Too much choice was also a problem but Mallory did have a question about dog food that needed answering first. "I would suggest a bag of dry puppy food. You can't go wrong with that. I would also supplement that with a cut up lambs or cows liver once its cooked and the potato and vegetable mix I made for Sparky.

Once they're a bit bigger you could try them with the pouch dog food but by then they might like what you're feeding them" David mused back. Mallory didn't have to rush this so he advised "you can take your time over this and there's no rush. You'll find the right level of cuteness and activity in a puppy soon enough".

David could see the state of mind Mallory was in having calmed herself but he was hopeful that a puppy could make itself known to her. It was the same process that brought him and Sparky together. "There's no need to stress about this you know. One might well pick you out. So lets have a look at each one in turn and see who reacts first of all. That's always the first step. Then see who reacts the best. Then you'll have an idea which puppy is destined for you" he replied helpfully.

Yup it was a big decision and you needed to get it right first time. They did have plenty of time as Mallory asked about Sparky. "I knew I wanted a small dog. Especially when living in a canal side apartment but I just kind of knew when I picked him up. I'm not sure if he picked up on my oddity skill but he did seem to be the most energetic and interested puppy. It worked for me but you might have a different kind of dog in mind" he posed.

He did also reassure her and added "you've got plenty of time so you don't need to rush this. Just let the dog pick you".

Pure cuteness overload was what David seen when he got a better look at the puppy who had picked Mallory. He didn't recognise the breed but it looked like it would be short haired. "I get the same feeling from them. Now we need to find out what we need to do next. The shopkeeper will know" he mused.

This cute boy or girl just looked right for Mallory and might even be a friend for Sparky too.

The man who ran the pet shop would be able to take things to the next stage but firstly David and Mallory needed to figure what they did need right now. Other items could be gotten later and David posed a question combined with a suggestion. "It really looks like this little puppy is the one so if you speak to the shop owner I'll look out the basic items you'll need. You'll also need a flea collar and a normal collar and identity disc on it. Also a bed unless they end up on top of yours" he mused knowing just what he'd gone through with Sparky when he was even smaller than he was now.

"So what's the business idea?" he also posed. Already he was thinking about where the basic dog items were likely to be in this busy shop where there was little separation of different species items.

"I would start with a lead and poop bags" David suggested and then spoke again. "Those both sound like great ideas; especially beach weddings. I know of people from the UK who've done it on tropical islands like ours before. In fact given the times we live in it probally has crossed plenty of peoples minds". The fact he could call Ashford Isle his home now showed just how settled he was now. He hadn't really considered it before given he wasn't religious and didn't feel that he could trust a UK normal with his secret. In fact things had been getting worse for his kind in the UK for a long time.

"Also if you could extend the dog walking to dog sitting I'd certainly be one of your customers" he added before pointing out the dogs section of the shop. The little puppy was following Mallory around already and getting used to their master.
