Princes of the Universe - Open

Alice hadn't even known a girl her age growing up never mind an oddity but she could appreciate having a friend now. She raised an eyebrow at some of Lynn's next words. They were surprising.

"Actually a lot of the time is just me on the case. I wouldn't mind you as my partner but who knows if I'll even get one" she replied smiling. There wasn't that many investigators and the rest of the security services were soldier types along with the support people. Over time it would be a proper police department but the process would take a while and would depend on them having peace to move from a defence force footing.

Breakfast continued as she was close to finishing her first coffee by now. She was also starting on the bacon cutting it up.

Lynn Carpenter

As Alice had the pot of coffee on the table she just needed to pour a refil herself. Then replied "You think I'll get that lucky? I suppose its possible as some of every ships arrival choose the security services or already have that picked out.

Anyway we need to get you to bed soon. Once we finished eating I'll drive you back". This chapter was nearly over but it would lead to others fairly quickly.

Lynn Carpenter

Alice smiled back hearing this. Lynn's words did help more than she realised as work was starting to get too much to handle on her own. She still wanted to finish her degree and make something of her life after all she'd been through but without a partner it would mean longer office hours just to keep on top of things.

"Thanks Lynn" she replied giving her a hug.

Lynn Carpenter

Alice was finishing of her hash browns when her phone went off. It wasn't her work phone but even work could catch up with her during downtime. Seeing the number on the screen it was time to get serious again. "Officer Seraphim here. Jamie whats going on?" she asked.

Lynn was only hearing one half of the conversation but there was other clues going on. Alice's expression changed a few times and by the end of the conversation it looked pretty serious. "I'll be in early. Got something to do first and I'm all yours. See you then".

She looked back at Lynn and sighed a little. "This is what happens when you work for a living". It was a weak joke but one all the same.

Lynn Carpenter

There was still time to finish breakfast before these princes of the universe had to part for the day. At least until next time.

Alice drove Lynn back in her usual style. "Let me know the next time you want to go out and do something" she suggested. Then duty did call.
