Princes of the Universe - Open

Lynn's practice session had seemed to have gone on quite a while. Even Alice wasn't quite sure how long but by now the moon was higher in the sky and bathing the beach in light. She looked as she was getting a rest after all than and Alice loosened her coat at last sitting down beside her on the sand.

So far they hadn't seen anybody else all night and Alice said "I think there's still one more tin left. Some more sessions like that and you'll probally have things worked out". She offered another chocolate bar and opened her own one up.

Even Alice had to put in the hard work to learn how to fly. Now it felt as natural as breathing. She still had to fly to not get out of practice. So Lynn still would have to work on her powers in the future. Just not as much.

Alice heard about what her foster father did every Friday night and it sounded so normal. Alice couldn't keep looking back otherwise she'd never stop crying but Lynn was different. "That sounds nice. You had your dad and I had the nurses. I could ask them anything" Alice mused speaking softly.

Then Lynn changed the tone by looking ready to go again. "No problem Lynn" she added. Once Lynn felt that she'd done all she could for the night they could drive back; but there was still work to be done.

Thankfully their supplies had lasted all night as Alice seen Lynn push herself quite far tonight. She hadn't expected to be involved in an all nighter once she'd picked Lynn up in her jeep but it hadn't been all work. Alice smiled back not feeling so cold anymore. "I think breakfast calls. I know this little diner than never closes so its my treat" she posed. She'd have to go into work afterwards anyway and she'd catch up om sleep later. Lynn probally would go to bed afterwards.

"Then lets get to the Jeep" Alice suggested. Then once everything was packed away and the trash picked up Alice started driving. She could see how tired Lynn was but the nights work had been worthwhile. At least there was no traffic round sunrise and they made good time reaching the diner in half the time it took them to get to the beach.

Pulling up she advised with a smile that the menu selection was good and they entered the diner.

Alice chuckled a little replying "if only I'd met you before new year came round. Anyway lets get food".

So in they went and Alice selected scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon and pot of coffee. She's need the later more as she couldn't go to bed just yet. Lynn's choice was up to her.

Now sitting facing each other in a booth while they waited. "I think you've earned your lie in after all that work" she cheerfully said sounding a bit tired herself. Being watchful also took it out of you. She'd also meant what she said earlier as if she hadn't Adam in her life she could have joined Lynn quite easily in bed. Alice sipped her black coffee with ease feeling a bit more waken up even if she didn't look it.

Alice smiled as she thought back about the night that had just passed. It had just been the two of them and it had been work but it still had been fun. She also felt a lot closer to Lynn now.

She drank more coffee and spoke again. "It actually took me much longer to learn to fly. Every oddity learns at a different speed depending on their skills and themselves". Her's being a physical thing she also kept learning as she grew up being able to fly higher and longer. These days she could even carry somebody else while she did so.
