Mallory had a plan already it seemed. She even knew who might be interested as names were mentioned including a guy called Adam. Her boyfriend? Possibly a coincidence that she'd figure out later. Was this the Damon she'd had an adventure with? At least family was going to be involved. She would like to be involved too if it fitted her work schedule. "I would like to be involved Mallory" she mused back with a smile. "I need insoles for my boots. So that means a shoe shop" she added. "It might not be as hard as you think to find a night that suits everyone" Alice mused back as they headed to the shoe shop. She'd adjusted her bags again and time was getting short for this evenings shopping. Perhaps the fun might continue at her place or Mallory's? They'd see. "I sometimes do that myself Mallory. Its not a bad thing and it shows you are paying attention. It's easier to ignore whats going on round you and harder to deal with it yourself. I found my guy quite by chance when I was getting started in the university. You never know when you get lucky" she said in a supportive manner. Maybe I am better at making friends than I think but maybe it's the people that I am hanging around that make it better?" She was slightly confused on how to word it but she hoped that Alice knew what she meant. "Alright now since we are still shopping, it's time to gossip. Who's the guy?" Alice nodded as she understood what Mallory was trying to say. "People do seem to be more open here. That might be something to do with it" Alice advised. She hadn't seen this level of openness in Florida for starters. Perhaps Mallory's prior experiences were different? Now came the question? Alice just answered as she didn't know she might be getting Adam in trouble. "I met Adam Parker in the university. He helped me find my Horticulture books and we get on well" she added. What else they'd gotten up to was between them for now and quite spicy. "I would suggest flash lights and some ways of gathering evidence. People tend to have cameras on their phones so you don't need those. Glow sticks could be used to give extra light or to mark a location along with note pads, pens and markers" she further added with a smile. Alice grinned back when Mallory talked about her boyfriend. Perhaps they'd rushed things but she knew what they had. He was on his trip to the USA right now and she hoped he was over the sea sickness by now. "He was very good to me" she cheerfully replied. Then came the compliment. "Flash lights are usually found in hardware stores or outdoor pursuits stores as are glow sticks. Notebooks,markers are stationary. Also post it notes". Dinner we can take suggestions or a survey at least about what others want and such, also allergies. We need to make sure we do not cause anyone an allergic reaction." She took a second. Alice quickly picked up her insoles while Mallory was brainstorming and by the time she got back from the till food was being discussed. Then Adam was being mentioned and Alice smiled again. Thinking about him made her happy. "We might need that depending on where you're planning to go" Alice mused. So the venue might be outdoors. "So lunch at the hotel and dinner before its gets dark seems to be the plan" as she summed up things so far. It was perhaps the first time that she was making a true friend and it felt good. She had been friends with Cami at one point and time but the fallout was too much for either one of them to get over but she was still going to invite Cami when the time came. Alice did lead the way and she could be a bit scatter brained herself. She could admit this as it took a problem to focus her mind. "I can be like that myself at times; its hard to believe but its true" she admited. Now they were there the world was Mallory's oyster and she could go wild. Clothes were only the start in a shop like this as you could have everything from a tent to a glow stick. Alice nodded not knowing anything about her parents. She wouldn't let this put a downer on events and wanted to keep things positive. She'd been raised by a group of army nurses instead of a normal family and she'd turned out alright as it was possible for her to be. So family could come in different shapes and sizes. "Your dad was a scientist? Do you know what he studied" Alice posed not really expecting an answer. That was down to Mallory in the end. "I was happy to help out" she added more cheerfully. "As best as I remember he studied things about electrical fields in science though according to my mom he did so much studying that at times she swore he had developed another side of himself, figuratively of course. I never really seen that or felt like that about him but I was a kid and maybe I missed something." She thought that was easily plausible in the end. "I think about half the people would hold onto their partner." The truth was that she did not even know why she had brought up such a memory. It did not change the mood but she was not the type to ever talk about things like that but she supposed that was the weird thing about how memories worked. "I don't even know why I chose now to talk about that but I mean at least it's good and not bad in a way," she said as she gathered the things.
