"A lot of people work hard here; but you also need to make time to relax. Swimming is certainly a good activity and there's plenty of good beaches and coves. Some don't even get a lot of people using them" Madison replied with a smile. She worked as hard here as she knew the rest of her family in New York did. Business wasn't too good back home so perhaps her brother might even find his way out here. "I originally came here to go to the university. I was looking to complete my masters degree and wanted to see what an oddity based society looked like. So I stayed and have been here over two years now" she added before sipping her coffee. Being a sports coach wasn't the grand plan but it had worked out for the best. "And you might want to dust of your bike riding skills if you had any. "I can see a life for myself here and I have plans to get out later so keeping up on the bike skills will be good." She knew that she needed to get out more because she had started seeing cats talking to her and that was not good at all.

So Mickie could ride a bike after all. She would need that skill here as Madison helpfully suggested "you can hire a bike when you need one. There's also plenty to do but be careful in certain parts of the town. The slums as they are called here aren't much different from the poor sections of New York". There was also a warning as you'd find locations like this anywhere in the world. The old comics titles her dad had managed to hang onto before they ceased to be printed after 1993 did have dark knights and heroes along with supervillians but Ashford Isle didn't have a Batman yet. Perhaps there might be supervillians in their future but they did have crime to deal with. "I've got a girlfriend too. She nodded and made a note to if she could stay away from the slums. She supposed that no matter what anyone did you could not run away from the bad part of the world at least not all the time but so far what she had seen was good and work was excellent.

What Mickie said when she replied was what she needed to happen to her. Things usually didn't work out the way you wanted; you also tended to get what you needed rather than what you wanted and it looked like she had some of the good things in place already. "Yes, what you said is essentially the answer. Some of it you have already especially if you like your job and feel financially secure. Other things just take longer to find. Perhaps try having a pet, make more friends and you might even fall in love given enough time" Madison mused with a little smile. She nibbled at her donut and sipped more coffee too. She nodded because she knew at the end of the day it was mostly on her the things that she did need to improve and still Madison seemed so nice so she was glad to hear it. "Yes that would be great" she said her face beaming with what was perhaps pride for the first time. She knew that eventually she needed to get out more on her own but still it was one step at a time. From first impressions which were good Madison was getting a good feeling about Mickie. Then once she felt more settled she'd spread her wings. She also looked really happy as she spoke. "I'm so happy for you" Madison gently replied adding "I had to go through the same things when I first arrived. Now you just need a good spot to go kayaking". Given it needed to be still water and not large waves that would take a bit of work to figure out. She was still trying to figure out just what she needed to do so that she could know more about herself and in the end, at the end of the day she knew that she simply needed to mind her time better and that would work better for everyone.

Mickie made a good point about dodging the other boats; something that was simpler than it sounded when there was a lot of moored boats there. However with a bit of looking and asking around answers could be found. "That would do for starters as a kayak is a smaller boat I'll look out some leaflets for you on my way to work. There has to be someplace you can go Kayaking on this island. Perhaps even people I can ask" she replied. "Then leave them with you tomorrow. There also must be coves were the water is easier to handle". She knew from New York life that you had places like that but maybe you just had to improvise here. Mickie Reed |

Mickie had the weekend off and given Madison figured she had the time to find ideas she could leave them in the next day. So the next day as promised she turned up before her evening shift with a handful of leaflets for Mickie. There was coastal areas which could be used for boating in general and she also had a map with some possible areas marked for Mickie. She'd made some calls and enquiries and the only real issue she might have was getting her kayak to them. Which a smile she turned up round the same time as she previous day. Knocking on the door she was ready to pass these on. Hopefully her new friend was there but she could leave these with reception if she was else where. Mickie Reed |

This young woman did give good advice as Mickie had an idea beginning to form in her head as she spoke. "I am going to the bookstore when I get off and the first person I see man or woman I am going to use it to strike up a conversation with them. It is the easiest way that I can think of to make a new friend and plus who would not want to know who I am after that?"
The next day had came and she heard the knock on the door and opened it. "Hey Madison how goes it?" she asked as she pushed a few books out of the way.

Just before she had to leave Madison heard what Mickie had in mind. That would be after she clocked off for the day and Madison would be working anyway. "Give it a go and see what happens. You might get a chatty person" she said in an encouraging manner. Hopefully there might be a happy result. So the next day when Mickie answered the door of the lab with books on display told her she might have done just she'd hoped for. "Oh things are good today. More students to teach and some look like they'll graduate shortly. It's normally a five or ten lesson course in learning a new sport; tonight its the track and field to coach". Which explained why she didn't have her racquet bag this early evening but still had her sports bag. "I imagine that it is kind of bittersweet when they graduate? I mean I know it's not like a big chunk of time spent with them but still to see that they have learned all that can be taught but hopefully that gets healed a little with new people coming in. You must get to meet all kinds of interesting people either way." She nodded. "I will let you know how my run in goes," she said as she laughed. She was going to try and remain positive.
"Well after work I did get like two miles in around the beach. It was mostly quiet but it made me feel good and up tonight is the library of course at the university so I can execute the mickie makes friends plan. I am excited for it probably a bit too much."

Madison kind of felt like a teacher saying goodbye to her elementry students as they were about to enter junior high. You knew they're always be more coming through so you always had a new challenge in front of you. Also they could come back to you later on if things needed improved. So you never truly lost a student. "It kind of does but you might see them again when competitions are run. I've a mix of normal humans and oddities at any given time but sometimes abilities get absorbed into what I can pass on. One of my students passed through tennis and then did track and field with another coach. She can fly and I sometimes see her on the track doing a rather modified 3000 metres. A combination of low level flight, hurdles and the sprint finish. It looks rather amazing" Madison replied. It sounded that Mickie was excited a lot of the time anyway but she did certainly sound up for going to the university library. "It's good you got some water time in. We could do with a boating lake for that kind of thing but we don't have that yet. I hope the leaflets help in the meantime. You'll probally find somebody as bubbly as you are". Mickie Reed |
