David wasn't going to be forgetting the mobot attack anytime soon but he did have a promise to make sure happened. The activity would be Graysen's choice but the venue would be the same as last time as guys needed to well... do guy things once work was out of the way. So once things had settled down texts were send, read and replied to. So once they had a day and time set the rest would be easy. He was still doing his gym nights but there was always time for fun. The bar had a pool table and a darts board so it wasn't much different from the pub he'd left behind in the UK. The main differences were the accents he was hearing and the beer they'd be drinking. The pools balls would be different too as nine ball wasn't much of a thing in the UK but it was here. Graysen Maddox

Graysen had promised himself the next time that he was out he was going to make sure he did not get drunk so this time when he was meeting with David he was glad that he had learned to control his alcohol though he still did not know. He was also glad that he had made a friend and could shoot the shit with a guy because it was different. Still he made his way in and spotted David. "Hey, I promise to have a fun time but not get too carried away." David Lightfeather

"Hello Graysen. Good to see you again" David cheerfully replied. Tonight should be an improvement on what happened previously and they did have choices to make. It was also important to have a guy friend as he made a suggestion about tonight. "Do you want to do darts or 9 ball pool?" he cheerfully suggested. Both were possible along with drinking tonight. David knew about darts but pool would be a new experience. The tables and game were different from home but a cue didn't change. Graysen Maddox

Fun was the plan as Graysen finally made his way to the bar and found David. He did not know if this was the type of thing that was going to turn into being too macho but he knew especially the last time he had a hel of a lot of fun and he hoped that was good. "You know what?" he said as he finally spoke to David. "I think that hopefully I will be able to remember this time," he said as he laughed. A good time did need to be had by all no matter what at least he thought so. "I think I will give myself a shot at pool this time. I have not played it much so I need all the practice that I can get." David Lightfeather

David smiled slightly when Graysen mentioned the last time. There were good times and a not so good time at the end of it all but Graysen had gotten back home in one piece. So things were good in balance. So the game would be nine ball pool and you'd need plenty of stategy for this. "Pool sounds good to me too. I'll check if the table is free first of all" he replied. Then he added "when I played it in the UK it was red balls and yellow balls. A very different game". So a quick look later he returned. "It's free". Hopefully neither of them would overdo it tonight. He knew it would be a good night even if he ended up sucking at the pool because at the end of the day, he was having fun. This was the second most relaxed time he could say that he ever had on this island and he knew that was a good thing. "How are things going for you David? Good I hope," he knew that someone could not always tell but he figured it was always good to ask. "Yeah the exchange in sports between here and the UK seems insane but hopefully both are always fun." David Lightfeather

David looked back at Graysen and noted his observation about how pool was different with the Atlantic separating two nations. "It works both ways. You can play American Football in the UK and Rugby and Cricket in the USA and Canada. You also get what's called Soccer in the USA in both nations. As well as your pool balls being stripes and dots" he mused. Ideas crossed all the time but he note that quite a few sports had roots in the early versions of football. "Things are good Graysen. Work is going well and I think things are going extra well with a co-worker. She even gets on with my dog" he added cheerfully. Graysen Maddox

He finally took a seat and looked around trying to get comfortable about his night out. Pool he understood a little bit but he still would not say that he was good at it, but perhaps, or hopefully at least better than darts. "Women do have a way of making everything better. Sometimes even their presence can turn a bad day good just to know someone will help you." He looked around and finally grabbed a stick. "Time to get started, how about loser buys the first round of food?" David Lightfeather

"You speak words of wisdom" David cheerfully mused as thoughts of Peyton were never far away. He now felt he had more than this isle to fight for. With her in his life there could be more than just him and a dog in the future. Things which should resolve themselves in the future. She picked up another well used cue and broke off after adding "thunderbirds are go". The violence of physics and its randomness kicked in as the balls split, collided with each other and separated across the table. He'd left a reasonably easy 1 ball for Graysen but the path was a lot harder after that. Just potting the balls in numerical order changed the way you looked at the game. Graysen Maddox

Graysen took a second and he took the time to think how nice it was of David to take him up on the offer. "Alright you know what I am going to try and do, make a shot in the corner pocket to see if I end up actually making it in." He knew nothing about this or if he had any aim but he was damn sure going to try. It did not take long before his shot was taken and he had completely missed. "Damn it I am not athletically gifted at all outside of the baseball field. It's a bit embarrassing," he said as he laughed. David Lightfeather

David chuckled a little and replied "we're always good at something. My sport was rugby union and I played it at school and in university. It's like American football but without all the padding and helmets. Also less stoppages". Having more practice at pool in general he potted the first two finding he hadn't lost too much of his positional game but unable to free up the 3 ball for a pot. So played a safety shot meaning it was Graysen's turn again. Had he still been able to pass as human in the UK he probally would have still been able to play rugby at an amateur level but in his were form he'd have made a great forward. "So what level of baseball did you play?" he curiously asked. "You did mention a team you played for before you came here". Graysen Maddox

He agreed because he did think that people were naturally good at one or maybe two things in their entire life and then it kind of went on and depended from there as he watched David take his shot. "Well first they had me as a pitcher and then second basemen. I feel like I was a better pitcher but then arm and shoulder injuries and it all becomes a memory." Still he had managed to remain pretty positive at it and about life in general. "I came here for a girl, I swear that is the lamest reason but it is a truth. Don't regret it though but am slowly findint out how to find and be my ownself which is good." It took a lot to be a strong person and work through your flaws and short comings and he knew that as he thought about his shot for a second. David Lightfeather

Being a pitcher got you better known. Probally like the being the striker in a soccer team or the quarterback in American football. Still he got to play after his injuries which had to be good. Then he ended up here because of a girl. Not a new story but one as old as time itself. Still a good enough reason all the same. "As long as you don't regret things they will always be more hopeful. Self discovery is also important. I'd never have met Peyton if I hadn't came here" David replied as he watched Graysen mull over the shot options available to him. "At least you still got to play the game and you might yet again. There's still time to do that" he added. Mallory and himself had discussed baseball before and there just might be enough players after all. Graysen Maddox

Nights like this he was finding he lived for, not because he did not get out much but it was the first time he felt like he could say that he was just feeling like anything was as normal as it was ever going to be and that was always a good feeling. He watched David's shot again and nodded. Plus the games they played seemed to give good competiton but between the two of them it never seemed to get too rowdy. He took a shot and sunk one in and threw his hands up. "Fuck yea," he said. "About time I was starting to think I was not getting anything in at all." "Yeah I am never giving it up, I just am finding other hobbies along the way that can never be bad can it?" He needed to learn all he could because he wanted to especially now. David Lightfeather

You needed nights like this not only to blow of steam but also be able to say what was on your mind and not bottle it up. The games and beer nights they'd had weren't really serious competition and then came Graysen's celebration. He chuckled slightly as he looked over the table. The 4 ball was next and a fairly straight pot. The 5 ball was harder to pot whatever he did as it was resting on the side rail. "One down, plenty to go" David mused. So he did want to keep playing baseball after all. "Other hobbies are always good. Especially ones that keep the mind sharp like pool. The table is always changing once the cue ball moves and after each shot you need to figure out your next move". Graysen Maddox
