The longer the night dragged on, the more Salem found what made him human slipping. His understanding of the girl's words began to muddle, certain sounds catching his attention more than others. His head tilted left and right, ears alert, yet there were moments where there were no thoughts behind his eyes. No thoughts, only play. The Pomeranian followed after her when she started walking, a small prance to his step. That was a bowl in her hand. A bowl meant food, water, or something else good. Follow the bowl! Sophie Chang

The little dog was seeming to have fallen in step with Sophie as she entered the playground. He could run free here if he wanted, have a drink and even have a petting. This did get her thinking as she knew about loyalty, trust and responsibility from being part of a triad family. Her future may not lead to that path now but it just might lead to looking after a little dog after tonight. Placing the bowl down she petted him again with a happy smile. He really was cute. Aw, the bowl only had water. Disappointment was dismissed with a flick of the ear, and the Pomeranian eagerly lapped at the water the moment the bowl touched the ground. Licking the water off his lips, the dog looked up at the girl, out at the playground, then darted off. Dark fur blended into the nightfall, nothing more than a blur under the outdoor lights. Around and around the Pomeranian ran, a seemingly endless ball of energy. He only stopped to sniff something before taking off again. The little dog eventually returned, breathing labored, with a sizable rock in his mouth. He dropped it at the girl's feet, took two steps back, and looked up and down from the girl to the rock. Sophie could pick up the idea that this little dog after his freedom run in the playground wanted to play fetch. He would need a rest first but she said “alright then, fetch” and then threw the flattish rock. Why a rock and not a stick? She was wondering about that when she heard something behind her. So many things and people came through here that it was hard to keep up with and right now Gigi was so busy with spring cleaning that it was hard to know who and what should be here as she was looking over a few things but soon she'd have to go out and she wanted to take Sophie so she had to find Sophie. Getting up she made her way down to Sophie's room and knocked. "Sophie," she said and then went on. "I need to go do some stuff in a little while do you want to come with me?" She did not even know why she was always taking this little kid with her because she truly hated kids. The orphanage was just a really good cover up for her to look like a law abiding citizen. Unfortunately for Gigi, the knock would go unanswered, the room vacant without its inhabitant. The black-and-tan dog let out a high pitched bark as the girl picked up the rock. He dropped into a play bow, dark eyes locked on the rock. He took off as it soared through the air. The rock clunked against the playground equipment and fell into the mulch for a brief moment before being scooped up by the dog. The Pomeranian trotted back and dropped the rock at the girl's feet, curled tail wagging a mile a minute. Sophie ChangGigi Richards

This very happy looking dog still wanted to play fetch. Unaware that Gigi was looking for her she threw the rock again with a smile on her face. This time further towards the back of the playground and seeing him dash off like before rose to her feet to follow. She could lose him in the darkness so lit up her right hand again as she followed a little. Salem YangGigi Richards

Kids were impossible as she opened the door to find it empty and sighed. No telling how many things went around here without her noticing as she turned and made her way back to her office. Walking to find someone was caveman behavior but since she was going to have to actually look for Sophie she needed tennis shoes. Once she had them one she made sure to lock the orphanage up and on her way she went. Where would a child go really, what if Sophie was dead, kidnapped. That would be a mess to clean up but luckily she did not get that feeling as she still continued to walk. Someone would owe her tennis shoes. Playgrounds were dirty places but kids seemed to like them so that was her first direction but at the front of the playground she seen nothing. "I hate walking," she said as she made her way towards the deeper parts of the playground. Even being super smart had it's disadvantages as she looked around and then she simply yelled. "SOPHIE ARE YOU DEAD?" Damn it she did not want to have to put a kid six feet under. Salem YangSophie Chang

Salem disappeared into the darkness of the playground, nearly tripping on the very rock he had been chasing. The dog snatched the rock up and gave it a quick chew, small teeth leaving distinctive etches in a surface that should have been strong enough to withstand a Pomeranian's bite. He paused, ears perking up as a woman's yell echoed in the darkness. Catching sight of a familiar flame, the Pomeranian darted after the light, rock still secured between his teeth. That shout sounded like Gigi. Since she’d gone looking for her and they were outside the orphanage she might be pissed at her. She knew even her aunt Lucy was like that before she was killed so heading back as fast as her feet would carry her. She still kept the flame burning in her hand to also guide the little dog as much as to show Gigi it was her. Picking the direction of the shouting was initially difficult but she covered the ground fairly quickly till she rounded the corner of the lane and there she was only ten yards away. “Hello Gigi” she replied sounding a bit breathless. She’d really need to do more swimming now she felt fully mobile again. Gigi Richards Salem Yang

"I thought you were missing," she said as she looked at her. "What is wrong with your breathing?" These damn kids were starting to be a handful but she also knew eventually they would not be at the orphanage to drive her crazy. "Working on your flame?" she asked as she looked at her hands. "Sophie we are a special kind of person as you know and there are people who will like us and people who will not, so we need to be safe. I am not saying that you will not do kid things and meet other kids I am aware of that but sometimes you have to be extra careful. I have a doctor's appointment should I tell Sita that you are doing well if she asks?" Salem YangSophie Chang

A few moments after Sophie found Gigi, the black-and-tan Pomeranian scampered out of the darkness and into the warm glow from the flame. He dropped the rock at the girl's feet before sitting down, tongue lolling out of his mouth while panting. The dog looked up before spotting the woman farther away. He snatched the rock up and trotted over to Gigi, dropping it at her feet this time. Dark eyes peered up expectantly. Throw? Yes? Please? Sophie ChangGigi Richards

She felt fine. Just a bit out of condition but that was something she could fix. Then the dog caught her up and then picked up the rock leaving it at Gigi’s feet. She also looked a little sheepish as she’d never meant to be out this long or on her own. “I just need more time on the swimming pool. This is the first time I’ve been running in a while and my fitness is a bit lacking. And I can make it like a flaming torch now” she replied showing both burning palms and then with waves of her hands put out the flame just like that. “I’m sorry for worrying you. My aunt Lucy would have yelled at me for the same reason but I did find a new friend”. She meant what she said as the dog looked up at Gigi expectantly. While Sophie was confident of fighting her way out of trouble if it found her life didn’t always work that way. Gigi RichardsSalem Yang

Her dark hair made her appear more friendly than she was but it was not in her to be mean to animals but she did look at him. "This is your dog?" she asked. She hoped she had not picked up a strange dog because it could not have been caught up on shots or anything of that nature then again it could be anything on this island. "Animals make better friends than humans sometimes and this is good but I am not one for throwing things," still she threw the rock. "Well I need to talk to Sita, anything else that you need can you and your animal companion take care of it?" She was not going to assume that it was an oddity, if that came out then it came out. "If you wanted a companion all you had to do was ask. I do not guess I thought about if animals are allowed but I do not see why they would not be at the same time. Animals can help us with things that humans and oddities can not." Salem YangSophie Chang

Throw! He let out a bark as the woman who claimed to not be a thrower went and did just that. Off the Pomeranian went after the rock, only to stumble past the rock's landing point. He slid through the grass, picked himself back up, stood there for a moment, until finally shaking off his fluffy pelt. The rock laid abandoned while the dog returned to the youngest's side. He plopped down on the grass with a huff, the intelligence returning in his eyes. The dog soon started cleaning his face with his paws, but it was only a front for hiding his embarrassment. He couldn't believe he had let himself fall for fetch. Again. Sophie ChangGigi Richards
