murder in the middle of the leak (Alice)

The sky father seemed satisfied and then he was brought back to the main assembled group. The shock had passed but the cult did seem calm and coordinated now. They were told once it was dark they’d move out to the village armed with what they could find. Then return to the compound after the unbelievers were killed. Their away mission would end when the aliens came to collect them.

Meanwhile Alice, Luis and Anton had gathered up the resident hunters which gave them nine more people. She also radioed the US troops further south to tell them her concerns. Any trouble that befell Browns Bay could also affect them. Now the twelve of them had to wait to see what happened.

Darkness was less than an hour away.

It did look like Francis would be left behind as he didn’t quite fit into this almost group mind. So he did end up tied up and left behind when the cult left the complex.

This march of a few miles would only take an hour but even Alice was being a look out as this situation developed. The village had to make its stand but children were taken out on fishing boats to not be there if the worst happened.

Guards did get bored and they even had to answer the call of nature. So Francis did get his chance to make a move soon enough.

A lookout did spot this procession and phoned in their warning. Now knowing they were armed she knew they would have to use force to save lives. Not only was it a weird case but her first time dealing with a cult. Jonestown came to mind and that cult had also transplanted abroad. So this could end badly too but some of them could still be rescued. That was her hope but firstly the people under her care were in the village and they’d need protected.

She’d scout herself shotgun in hand to get more information and knocked out a straggler at the end of the procession. Dragging him into the woods she asked pointed questions and now knew what she was up against. Knocking him out again it was time to fly back before the battle started.

Spying her partner Alice looked relieved. She knew they didn’t have much time as well as they told what they knew to bring each other up to date. “They want to wipe out the village according to that lunatic I had to knock out. He’d have gone on without stopping it I hadn’t clubbed him into unconsciousness” she said. “Is there a way to stop this happening before they get there?”

A valid question as while she could kill to save other lives she’d rather not have to.

“I doubt the US army will lend me grenades but used pressurised cans might do the job if you could get enough of them. They’d still get some shrapnel but they’d live once they went off once they got too hot. Off course. The trash” she replied as the idea hit her. So phoning Anton she explained the idea. You just needed a fire source to set them off.

So after the call she added “hopefully that will disrupt them in time. Otherwise those cultists will kill or be killed”. She didn’t like either idea but it was more important to keep the villagers alive.

This was going to be a hard case. It wasn’t anti-terrorism nor a normal case where you’d have to shoot somebody in a warehouse to take them in for questioning later. So handing Francis her shotgun and ammo she replied “I trust Anton and Luis to lead the defence. We need to turn the cult around before they get there and a cult does depend on their glorious leader. Take him out and they will have doubts”. That was something they could do with hopefully minimal causalties caused. She still had her pistol so could perhaps take that shot if the chance presented itself.

“Hopefully there’s enough pressurised cans to make a bang” she added. “It’s time for us to be a spanner in the works”.
