the water is clean but foggy (alice)

Alice knew how close she was to giving birth now. So had left work four weeks before the birth to give herself four weeks afterwards. She was feeling slightly less doubts now about what was going on and what the future would hold. Though still doubted she could deal with it. Right now she was having a light sleep on the couch and looking massive. The knocking on the door woke her up and she got to her feet hearing her partners voice. She still felt too hot as she swore and just did a little flight instead of walking. She was finding this easier in fact as she was also feeling sore as well as tired. She knew the genders but it still felt like two football players in her tummy.

“Coming Francis” she called out and landed beside the door to let him in. It was clear she wasn’t having an easy time.

“How are you?” she asked trying to look more energetic than she actually was.

So Francis was babysitting to give Sita a break. Alice tried to smile but didn’t even manage that. She did look like she was trying to be positive though. “I could do with company. Certainly some help as I’m way too hot and tired. These babies are kicking my ass at present” she confessed.

Ask what he said caught up in her brain she looked curious. “Let’s get this little guy comfortable then. How have you been coping with the frontline cases? I worry about you too and I haven’t been there to cover you.” Which showed their partnership was beyond strong.

“Do you want anything from the kitchen?” she posed. She could do with another diet soda loaded with ice and what did babies like to drink anyway? She couldn’t deny he looked so cute and that finally got her to smile.

"I'm happy you're going to bat for me" she replied and added "I'll be right back". Again she showed how hard walking even was as she took very low level flight to get to the kitchen and return with a drink that was soda and a lot of ice.

"I did go through the course the neonatal nurse gave. Some parts sounded even more graphic that our post mortem reports but I do know one name I want. Aurora for the girl. I'll need Lucas there to figure out what to call the boy but I don't know whose doing the kicking yet. They are both big and active". Then she looked back at Sita's boy.

"He doesn't look like he needs anything except being doted on. such a good boy" she cooed. "What's his name Francis?"

“He looks like a good boy anyway” Alice replied feeling all maternal to the baby. An extension of what she feeling towards her own twins who were still waiting their time to emerge.

“I can make up a bottle if he needs one. My baby supplies are all good to go” she added carefully picking him up so she could nurse him. This was a practice run for her as well as making Sita’s life a bit easier too. He was looking a bit sleepy too.

“There you go. It’s fine to sleep” she cooed as she held him firmly.

"I mean my baby food and diapers are here already. So he's not going to go hungry" Alice replied as the baby she was in temporary care of did look like he'd had a long day.

"I'm going to have less front line time. That will be the main change but perhaps I can be sharpshooter for a while" she posed adding "I'm also going to have to take things easier for a few weeks after the birth but I just need more rest and proper meals right now. So when I feel up to cooking I'm making up meals in food containers and freezing them. They'll also be handy for Lucas and his family when they come to visit". She needed all the vitamins she could get right now on top of eating more regularly.

"You did that too? I might not have gone as deep but some parts of that would make an autopsy report look tame" she softly said. "I'll probally keep doing the meal prep later on as Lucas and myself will either be on different work patterns, tag teamed by twins or just not in the mood to cook. You're making your own TV dinners this way" she added.

The neonatal nurse had also ben giving her the information that would help when it was time to not only give birth but be able to deal with a pair of crying needy babies; they would need both parents right away.

“You just might learn a bit sticking around Sita and myself. Three babies will teach you more than just one and he seems to be well behaved. I don’t know how my two will be” Alice mused. She’d get the diaper and bottle feed handy in case he did wake up and got to her feet to do just that. Going into her kitchen to make up the bottle was the start of that chain of thought.

“I have a feeling Sita and yourself will have a strong relationship even if it is strange. Babies might be the key” she added.
