"It is nice to always be objective," she said as she looked. She would never be the type that could over think but still you did have to think sometimes. "I do like the history behind it," she said honestly because that was a real truth. "It's always nice to have a habit that we can have with the people that are our family. She finally picked a spot, "How about on the left side, closest to the exit but not so far away we look like strangers?" Largo Vasquez

"The left side sounds good to me but we're not strangers now" Largo replied as they took their seats. Sports shooting, hunting or historical firearms was usually passed down the generations anyway. Diving was something you got into by yourself. On an island where there was so many activities you could usually find something to do. "So what do you want to drink?" he then asked. Ula W. Ravenmore

"Oh of course no, no strangers, tennis partners?" She had no idea what she wanted to do on the island. "The honest answer is all of it. I know that one person can not do all of it in a day for rome was not even built in a day but it is a nice thought that perhaps a little bit of what the island offers may one day a person be able to look back on and say they at least tried." That seemed reasonable enough. She shook her head when he asked her about drinks. "So I have no idea what to order drink wise so I am going to randomly pick one from the menu. Sounds fun, what about yourself?" Largo Vasquez

From what Largo knew about island life it did tend to revolve about the sea and dining. Then there was plenty you could do yourself and its was as natural a tourist resort that he'd ever seen. He'd even seen a hen party in full flow the week before while he was out for a walk at the pier. "I think I'll go for rum on the rocks" he replied. "Tennis partners and more I'd say. I like you Ula and chance threw us together" she added sounding relaxed. Hopefully not clumsy as island life was a relaxing him more. Ula W. Ravenmore

Rum on the rocks, it was a good choice. She took a minute and then she shook her head. "Look at you so honest. That is quite refreshing. I'll join you with the rum on the rocks. I was going to go for something a bit more delicate but the smoothies do that trick and I need to learn to try new things with joy and not nervousness." Largo Vasquez

Largo went to the bar with Ula and ordered a pair of rum on the rocks. Then after being served they took their seats and you could still see the world go by through the windows near them. The seasons were starting to change but summer did stay round a big longer here. Even fall was only slightly cooler and a bit more wetter. What you would have was shorter days and that meant night life would get started earlier. Largo hoped he was getting better with social dealings of this type. "This kicks quite a bit but its also smooth and can sneak up on you. I think its stronger than our neighbours rum is too" he advised having gotten used to this local brew by now. Ula W. Ravenmore

She was seated with her hand over her drink and she looked at him. "Are you admiring the change of the seasons?" she asked. "It is going to sneak up on us but it will be autumn on the island soon and that means cooler temperatures perhaps," she said. It also lead to winter and she did hope that it would snow even if for a minute. "So sip it slow or how would one drink this to not get too intoxicated right to begin with?" Largo Vasquez

"I suspect we'll be like Florida over the fall and winter. A short but fairly dry winter that's only slightly cooler than now but a bit windier in fall. It would be unusual if we got snow" Largo replied in a relaxed manner. "Not a lot should change in fact so we'll still get the tourist ships. In fact we'll get more as most people on the east coast will be facing snow". In a way this island felt like an extension of his home state having grown up in Miami. Which would help when it came to digs as the possibility of storms was the same as for most other parts of the region. He'd heard about the big storm that hit the island before but after storm season it should be fine. Hearing the question about how to handle rum on the rocks he suggested "just sip it carefully and you'll get used to it. If you had the rum as a cocktail it would certainly sneak up on you". Ula W. "That is the type of winter that works best for me. I always dreamt of going to one of those states where it snowed a lot but as I have gotten older I simply realize it was just that a dream. I would be not terrified but terribly cold and that would not make for a good time," she said as she laughed. It was nice to laugh. "Sip carefully," she said. "Here's to your advice," she said. "I do not need it sneaking up on me at all." Largo Vasquez

Largo knew what that meant as he was used to going south for the winter. He had spent time in a New York College as a teacher but never liked what they called winter. He'd rather be out on a dig somewhere warmer if given the choice. "I understand what you mean as snow isn't much fun unless you're skiing on it" he replied. Ula seemed to be having a good time exploring new things; those now included rum. So he was doing the same although he was more used to the local brew and matched her sip. Ula W. Ravenmore

It was tasty even being a bit rougher than what she was used to but she had no true complaints. "This is pretty good," she said. "Do you ski?" she asked. She knew she had a lot of questions but she was curious plus it was the best way at the end of the day to get to know someone. Largo Vasquez

“I did spend time as a teacher in New York State university. I didn’t like the winters but I did have students who did ski. I don’t personally as I prefer my feet on the ground” he chuckled. “I do hike though and getting through snow is slightly easier that dealing with rough country”. There was plenty of places to do just that here. Going into fall would open more chances as the days cooled. Ula W. Ravenmore

She took the time to push her drink to the side so that she could turn towards him as he spoke. She thought it was always important to pay attention to someone when they spoke. "You should take me hiking in that case when the time allows. I have never been and sometimes it is good to get out and try new things right?" Largo Vasquez

Largo pondered what would be a good hiking trail based on what he knew about the island. The inland parts of the island had plenty of choices if you just wanted to hike and explore but you did need to be prepared when going off trail. Holding back from his next sip of rum he looked back at Ula and replied "I do know a few paths that branch of the beaten track. Those lead into rainforest so we will need to be prepared for anything up to and including snakes. Have you ever used a machete before?" She'd also need good boots and something resembling his own gear and he could supply the machete; he'd still take his revolver in with him. Add in a pop up tent, camping rations and a medkit for starters they'd have to carry a pack each as well as a belt walkie talkie. He carried the same when he was doing his first jungle hikes as a student. Some those things had just gotten a bit smaller. Ula W. Ravenmore

"I have never used a machete but if the basics are just throwing it to take someone or something's head off I think I will be okay doing that and I will make a note to be extra careful since I am a beginner with one also. It already seems like it might be a good time waiting to happen, who knows we might even find out that we like doing this type of adventuring together which would be amazing." Largo Vasquez
