operation i have no name (Sophie/Carmen)

Sophie wasn't going to elementry school just yet so she just needed to do the homework her teacher left while the others were doing their own version of high school or just being out. She was also getting a chance to bake everyday and help with lunch in the kitchen. She did miss school but not some of the children there.

So still physically sidelined and in her wheelchair she had about two hours before she had the video call from her teacher. Rolling her way into the quieter part of the orphanage she listened hard hearing some noise. Somebody was clearly around in the TV room; she was just as happy to listen the radio in her room and she reached up to open the door then let herself in.

Today she'd be wearing her normal jean shorts and a black vest top. She didn't need shoes a lot of the time so hadn't bothered as she left the chair rarely. Somebody was watching an old show and then it hit her who it was.

"Sawyer, what are you doing here?" she posed sounding surprised. He was one of the people she clearly didn't expect to meet here.

Sawyer took a second. "Have you guys really never seen Mork and Mindy? I mean it was way before our time but it's so campy and I like it," he said. "I am going to be staying here a while but I mean I am still going to do what I want so please do not think that this is going to change me."

That reminded him he needed to get into a therapy session with Gavin soon. "I have a baby on the way honestly that is what I am doing here. Gigi seems to think that she can help me out with adjusting to such a life change."

She looked at Sophie. "Well we missed you too, we even took a few minutes and broke in your apartment which I guess is your old apartment now," she said. She rolled her eyes at Sawyer. "Who knows?" she asked "I mean the boy believes in aliens, so what have you, what do you do here?"

Carmen and I are having a baby.

Sophie couldn't quite believe what she'd just heard. Yes she knew Sawyer believed in aliens and then he explained how and why it had happened. 

She looked at both of them in turn not sure what to say next but Carmen had also asked her a question. That gave her something to think about.

"I'd have left a note on the fridge if I'd known you were going to my old apartment" she quietly replied. "I'm making myself useful by baking so you'd probally had some of my cookies by now. Muffins are next on the to bake list" she added. 

Then she finally found the words she was looking for. "So what's going to happen next now you know?" she posed.

He understood but he also felt like it was something that him and Carmen both could not choose to ignore. "Yes," he said. "Now the real question is what can we do around here that will not get us in trouble?" He was also going to mention being careful but he did not want Carmen to feel bad.

Carmen listened and then spoke. "Wow I was not aware that they had all of that but it makes sense since I have not had much time to go around and everything." She did want some food though. "Tea sounds lovely actually," she said as she looked at Sawyer. "You can come too but please do not keep talking to us about mork and mindy. Aliens might really come down and snatch you up."

“So let’s get tea first then pool” Sophie mused and led the way. She rolled into the kitchen she was getting to know better and set up to her liking over time. There was even a cookie jar where her wares got kept in public display.

She located the loose tea and a jar of instant coffee and asked Sawyer “do you want anything?” while she brewed up for Carmen and herself. It was also the time of year for iced teas and coffees. “Cookies are in the jar and the muffins are in the bread bin” she added. Sophie wasn’t yet part of the main cooking team but what she did was appreciated.
