Even paradise could become a prison if one had enough time to take notice of the walls
welcome to Dire Tactics
Oddities are individuals born with extraordinary gifts. Because of this they are hated, feared and generally persecuted across the globe. In an attempt to give them a refuge the billionaire Theodore Ashford has created Ashford Isle. Presented as a Sanctuary for the special some believe their to be much darker motives behind his generosity.
Ashford Isle
A state of the art city powered completely by renewable energy, gorgeous modern building erected against the backdrop of a tropical paradise. It has all the luxuries modern technology can afford accompanied by the natural beauty and serenity only nature can provide. This city is open to all Oddities and their families, along with several hundred A.R.I. employees, it boast a modest population of just over 5,000 individuals consisting of a mix between both human and oddity. This wonderful utopia however is shaded in mystery both metaphorically and literally. The United Nations have dispatched several fleets of O.S.E. ships near the island, this gives the coastline a ominous view.

She; Mallory had a lot going on but it was not the type of things that you could see and more important than that it was not sad. It was all wonderful and it made her days on this island go by like the blink of an eye. Constant, without thought, and sharp. Still nights were when she did her best thinking because solitude and the darkness with just nothing but a moon or a star shining gave her inspiration. Tonight was no different but the project she was working on had began to take it's toll on her but she was so close to the end that she knew she had to finish it.
Though she had heard the so-called rumors of hauntings here the many nights before she had came to the cemetery nothing had happened so she had found solace in a place such as this. No sounds, no distractions. Only her, the guitar that she had worked on for the past six months, and the scales on her back which under the night's moon light glistened a bit. The rainbow color effect often gave the illusion of scaled jewels across her back but there were no jewels, only an effect of having what she had others call natural bindings.
None the less none of that mattered but it had been a moment of inspiration for how she wanted her guitar to look once it was finished. Pink, shiny, and bedazzled. That was another reason why she came here. A broken down tombstone had gathered jewels. Jade, Rubies, Sapphires. Colored jewels that in her opinion held a higher value than diamonds but there were small traces of diamonds once being in the tombstone as well too. Truthfully it was a paradise in a place of sad goodbyes. Beauty in a life's cycle as she placed the guitar down and began to carefully go over the pieces of jewels.
"Nope, need a darker shade," she said as she tossed a few over her right shoulder. "Nada, too thin of a surface outing would probably crack when I start to play the strings," she said as she tossed a few over her left shoulder. "I need a good one," she said as she continued to rake her hand across the broken pieces. "Ooh," she said as she came across a beautiful pink colored diamond. It was a little rusty though probably from being covered in it's surroundings so she began to rub it, holding it up in the night's air. "Come on, I need to examine it." Pink diamonds were supposedly of a high value but she did not care about that, she simply wanted to know if it could work for her guitar project. She held it up once again and narrowed her eyes. "Well it's got a heck of a shine maybe I could make some use of it," she said as she went to put it in her pocket and watched it roll into the grass as she cussed. "Great now I have to find it."

A pair of dark eyes followed the brief gleam of moonlight reflecting off a smooth surface as something arched in the air before disappearing past a grave marker. Another gleam drew his attention, and his head rotated to follow the movement with his nose. Was this lady really throwing away shinies? Truly? He did not care about the why, only about the fact that leaving her hand clearly meant she did not want it anymore. Which meant more for him! With a stretch, his claws dug into the dirt, tails quivering. The cemetery had been claimed as his temporary hideout. Not many people visited (usually), there were plenty of hiding spots (especially when in his much smaller fox form), and he figured out quickly that the gravekeeper could be easily convinced to part with their food (once more - as a fox). It wasn't ideal when walking on two legs but on all fours? Perfect. The fox poked his head around another gravestone, beady eyes focused on the sparkly lady's actions. That guitar was tempting, but changing his size just to accommodate was unappealing. His interest fixed upon the last gemstone pulled from the broken grave. It must be valuable if it was enough to cause extra consideration from her. Bushy tails still quivering, a thick fog began to roll over the cemetery, hindering visibility further in the dark of night. Mine! The moment the stone was dropped, the fox darted out from behind the tombstone. The stone was snatched out of the grass, secured in his mouth as he took a sharp turn to weave through the tombstones. tag: Mallory Q. Nottingham

Looking for anything often made her feel like one of two things. One she woud find it and feel good about it as if a small task of accomplishment had happened or that it would forever be lost. She had been feeling pretty well about finding the jewel until. She remained still for a second because had she honestly seen something or was it simply her imagination and the cemetery. Either way she stayed entirely still going back and forth in her head about if she should go after something that simply might not be there. If it was something classified as a ghost or a spirit was it possible that it would take her over?
"Hm," she said. It was a blur honestly which made her sit down and dig a little more. She had heard a lot about this place and anyone going into anything knew that you could not really ever count anything out. She felt around in the grass but sadly there were no real traces of evidence. Still something or someone had created a second theft on top of her theft. It was hard to create a defense when you did not know what you were in a cemetery with though.
"Look," she yelled as she slightly moved forward still trying to figure out if it was safe to move. "I need that back. If you just want something to toy with you can have the rest of these," she said as she leaned down and picked up a few and tossed them through out the grass. "Multiples for one is quite the deal after all." If she was bartering with any kind of spirit she was going to freak. "I will not hurt you, harm is never my answer. Do you understand?"

Was this woman really trying to reason with an unknown creature in a dark, spooky cemetery? Her voice echoed in the silence, met without a response. The small fox continued weaving through the tombstones, putting more distance between himself and the other person. He only paused when he nearly choked on the gemstone in his mouth. After a brief moment spent readjusting the stone in his mouth, he carried on. The woman's bartering fell on deaf ears. Her promise not to harm him, however? High pitched chattering laughter broke his silence, and his pace slowed so he wouldn't make the mistake of swallowing the gem in the process. The fog began to thin as the illusion was released. Iseul jumped on top of a distant tombstone, white fur barely noticeable in the moonlight. The gekkering continued as he revealed his position, lowering on his front paws with a clear taunt of catch me if you can, lady. tag: Mallory Q. Nottinghamnote: sorry for the delay!

Even when she was little as sad or maybe as shaping of whom she was as it was Mallory never learned to never truly bargain with anyone. All that you could do in life was offer and go from there because everything was one step at a time even as an adult. She honestly did not mind it here. There was nothing here that could get her because everything here was non existent or sadly lingering around so she felt ironically safe.
The slight sound of the laugh seemed to echo and the pitch did put a small shiver through her back which hurt a little bit but she stayed still. A vague shape seemed to jump against the moonlight and she had no idea what she was dealing with. Her eyes narrowed as he seemed to be revealing himself to her. "Great," she muttered but still staying still. It clearly did not seem human and the taunting she rolled her eyes at that but was thinking. She could feel the scaly itch on her back and sighed as she leaned a little to the left allowing the bindings to come out as they pleased. Most the time they chose to simply roll out of her back and land on the ground which she was thankful for today as she leaned down and picked them up.
Chasing someone seemed so 2005 to her but still. "Look," she said as she held up the bindings against the moonlight. It was the one time that she was glad for the vibrant colors that they produced as this one had chosen to come out a pastel orange. It sadly only shined and sparkled as she twisted it in the moonlight. "If you are attracted to shiny things, pastel colors, we can be friends."
The fact that it seemed to understand her was something she was going to have to deal with later when she could fully concept everything from this meeting. "If you do not give it to me and I have to catch you I might have to skin whatever kind of covering you have on your skin and I am sure no one wants that. I mean look where you are, no one would hear those annoying chattering laughter that would follow. It is the great part about this entire area, how death is around and also inviting don't you think?"
