For as long as one can remember their have been tales of individuals whom could do extraordinary things. From Gods, witches, or even the elusive Big Foot and everything in between. Most of these stories were pushed aside, figments of paranoia or attempted hoax. It wasn't until 1993 that a man with extraordinary power attacked the White House. Some say he could shoot electricity from his finger tips.
Killing dozens and injuring the president before he was taken down he announced to the world that special people did exist, and you should be very afraid. Quickly they become known to the general populace as Oddities and they were the source of mass fear spread across the globe. Like all unique people these Oddities were not all evil, nor were they all victims. Over the pass few decades the understanding of this fact slowly began to progress through the various cultures that existed around the globe. Slowly laws were put into place, and the Oddities began to be more than just feared.
In 2015, 22 years after the attack on the White House a law was passed. Known as 'Left in the Dark' law, this law promised to protect Oddities from persecution as long as they promised never to use their abilities. While not Ideal, it was one of the more progressive laws of its time. Soon many other countries would pass similar laws, still not all countries were as sympathetic and many still invoked kill on sight policies.
The UN created the Oddity Security Enforcers ( O.S.E.) to help regulate this law. They quickly gained the reputation of being cruel and unjust. It was 2018 that Billionaire Theodore Ashford purchased a private Island located in international waters. Here he would begin building a 'paradise' for oddities. Welcoming them to his island and encouraging them to use their powers. Those who came over would be placed in the Ashford Arms, a large deluxe hotel. They would stay their until they could be provided with jobs and housing for their selves. The Ashford Isle would garnish a lot of attention and over the course of a few years its population would boom. Still their are rumors, some say the Ashford family are doing personal experiments on their new citizens, others claim they are building an army, a few claim that the Ashford's are looking to cure this plague from humanity, still it seems that once you arrive no one ever returns.
I guess the only way to really find out, is to come visit yourself?
