No oddity knew their ability until it showed itself. Even a child of an oddity rarely got the same power as the parent had but Avery was trying to reassure David. This was a first after all and they did have a willing subject; Graysen did want this and a willing wish couldn't be denied here and now. "It looks like were ready to go in that case. At least once we have all we need here. Get comfortable Graysen while I look out what we need for the next week" he replied to Graysen and looking at Avery. The tricky part would be applying the anaesthetics without a qualified nurse in that field but he'd attempt it himself if he had an idiot guide to work with. She was calm as she opened the doors and took a second and then spoke. "Graysen you will be able to go around and get in a gown and you can keep your underwear on we do not want to see your ass please and thanks." She was still a boss woman at the end of the day and liked it a lot.

He nodded as he took his gown and went to go get dressed. The truth was that he thought that he would be a little more nervous and yet here he was not feeling it at all. Maybe what he felt was excitement as he got dressed and made his way out. "Alright where should I be at first? On the bed, do I need to give blood?" Perhaps his nervousness was beginning to show as he spoke. "Alright will do," he said. It was going to be harder than it looked but he knew that he could do this and get it done. David Lightfeather |

From this point things were running smoothly. While medical trials weren't something David had been involved in before he was enjoying this as it was so different from his other duties. Phone calls needed to be made, supplies needed to be sent over and within the hour Graysen was having his first treatment under light anaesthesia. Questions needed to be asked while this was going on as it was a human trial; hopefully it could be a more routine procedure in the future but this week would help iron out the bugs along with setting the path ahead of others. "You're doing great Graysen; Just let things run their course" he encouraged. They'd have another treatment in a seven hours and then his friend could get a good rest. So far the readings on the little screen looked encouraging as the vital signs looked strong. So now he could also compare notes with Avery. Avery stayed quiet which was not rare for her. She simply took the time to make sure that she was going to be good and that everything that they needed to do for Graysen would be done. She pulled up his file and looked it over, along with the genetic file of his brothers. Weird they had not seemed to check into the island just yet but maybe that would change soon.

He knew that he needed to calm down so he did and thought about good things only. He had been told that if a person started to get nervous it was the least that they couldd do in order to not be because whatever was going to happen was going to happen. Still he listened and then he spoke. "I am sorry if I seemed to be going off the rails, but I truly do want to do this maybe once I am knocked out and wake up I will be fine." Graysen had questions and David was only too happy to answer them. "You'll be knocked out for most of these treatments especially the longer ones which will happen when you would have been sleeping anyway. So no need to worry" he reassured. So in the late evening after Graysen had dinner that would have been worthy of the Ashford Arms they started the longer treatment. With him being fully knocked out for these he wouldn't feel a thing until he woke up feeling sore. The rest of the week would be like that with it just the three of them involved. Avery was as she appeared, almost emotionless to anything that was not work but at least at the moment she was making sure to keep an eye on Graysen and David too. She knew that this could go wrong and at any given moment that they would have to bury this body but looking at his vitals he actually seemed to be taking to it well enough, so much so that even she was surprised. She took a second to place a few stickers around his head which would enable her to monitor his brain activity too.
"This is going so good so far. I am not going to lie I expected that we would have to bury him if he died but it looks like this is going to be a major success." The first human to oddity record, what a world it opened up.

Graysen was starting to feel a little loopy but not sleepy. His body had training for sports but this seemed entirely different which was good. Still he took a minute to lay down, for a slight cold chill ran down his arm and then his entire body as he closed his eyes. It was literally like going to sleep something he had not done much on the island since being here so it was very needed. David Lightfeather |

David had a feeling Avery wasn't making a joke about having to bury a body but he could agree that things were going very well so far. Now they'd have another set of readings on the screen. It was only fair to involve Graysen in everything since he was the willing subject taking the risk but he'd bring him up to date once he woke up again. "Avery, I don't see us having having any major problems. In fact by day four we will know for sure if this has worked. That DNA test will tell us if Graysen has joined the club or not" he replied. There was other fine details to record and discuss with her. So rolling onto the fourth morning it was time to see the result of the test. There still hadn't been any major side effects and David had kept the humane treatment going rather than follow the barbaric example suggested in the study papers. It would take longer but Graysen would come out the other end of this. So he showed them both a laptop with the test result on it. The double helix was looking closer to what an oddities would look like. She liked taking in data and as the days rolled on day four was impressive to say the least. "I am giving you a raise David," she said as she looked at him. "You need to make three more percent than you do now because this is amazing and I mean this is going good."
She had expected death but this was so much better as day five and six rolled on. By the time it was day seven she was tired but still a little bit more excited and spoke. "Well David you know what here we are on day seven and it has been great. I am going to raise that three percent up to six percent so buy yourself something pretty okay?"

The only real thing he had felt was tired. He still felt most like himself and that was good. How much blood had been drawn and all that scientific stuff he did not quite get but their look and nods seemed good so he felt like it must have been a good amount of success. He slowly sat up and looked at them. "I swear if you guys stare at me like I am a lab rat I will have to question why I ever did this," he said as he laughed. David was amazed in how much they'd managed to achieve in seven days of work. He felt slightly tired himself but it was nothing a day off couldn't cure; as well as some more time with Peyton. He had a feeling that Avery knew about that too given she'd known Graysen and himself were buddies. Office romances did happen in in this case it was a lab romance. So that 6% payrise would be helpful to get them a really good date or a really good afternoons shopping for Peyton. "Thank you Avery. I think I know what to do with that" he'd replied with a happy smile since things were not only going well here but elsewhere. But as this trial had wound onto day seven it was time to check the DNA again. So waiting for the test he'd gotten talking to Graysen over lunch. "Humour always helps. It dosen't usually last this long under these conditions as I was told by friends who did drugs trials back home. Every bit of money helps as a university student" he gently replied in his easy going manner; When he was on duty he looked like a completely different person. So later on the big reveal came and they all got to look at the laptop. Graysen now had the oddity DNA chain in his body. So now they just needed to figure out what he could do. She needed to track him and she would but that would be something she did on her own time because she did not want him to think that he needed to be watched but she did still. "Mr. Maddox, it appears through out this week your brothers have arrived on the island and also appears that your dna is much like ours now. We will just need to see how your body adapts to it and what unique ability lies within you now."
She did not want to push him too hard however though she knew sometimes you had to. "In about an hour, I do want you to try and stand up on your own. I want to see if we can see any physical deformities, so far it's a no but we need a good well check."
