Look what the cat left behind TAG Francis

Perhaps Francis was more chilled than most people who'd had to endure her rather robust driving. She was still getting to know him as they'd only been recently paired up. She got out the bag from the back of the jeep that had the surgical gloves and other investigative things. She'd use her mobile phone to record information and take photos and that was on her belt.

Alice on the other hand had taken to investigations rather quickly given the way her brain was wired up. Even with all the strange things that happened on this isle. Francis thought it might be related to a previous case she'd done on her own. Slipping on the surgical gloves she offered a pair to him in his size. This was a crime scene and they couldn't contaminate it.

Taking a closer look after lifting the arm up she furrowed a brow which was a good indication that she was thinking hard.
"It might be Francis" she mused taking a picture of the tattoo on her phone for later comparison. "It looks similar to the gang tattoo that was found a week ago. Also the grass round here looks disturbed but not that much. The body was probally dumped here and others drove off.

And why did you end up here Yorrick?"

Probally a long shot given a wallet would be missing under most circumstances but together going carefully though the pockets of his jeans they might come up with something. His shoes were even missing. The corpse spooked Alice slightly but this was work. Then a thought occured to her. "The arm wasn't stiff so he's not dead that long. Why are bodies being left for us to find in the first place? Anybody with sense would dispose of them in the sea. Can you please help me turn him over so we can check his back pockets and the rest of him?" They'd take photos before they did this. Normally elsewhere a CSI team would be here before them but they had do their own CSI work. There wasn't anything in the front jeans pockets to work with. There wasn't even a wound on the front of the corpse.

Now they had possibilities to consider and even he could feel the body cooling even in this tropical climate. The look on her face showed she wasn't finding this easy and once they'd looked at the other side of the victim she stepped away. Not just to get a look from distance but to give herself a chance to not freak out.

"Yeah poor fella. I hope his chosen deity is listening at least. Trouble has found us. So if this is linked to last weeks body find there's troubling possibilities to consider. That's for when we get back to the office and collate what we've found.

CCTV might help us here. If the cameras near the cemetery picked anything up" Alice replied looking close to losing her last meal but winning this round for now. Given the body was still slightly warm when they found it they had some idea of a time frame. She then took more photos of the body and the scene before she left Francis to what idea he had. As well as giving him space to and time to figure out what he might find.

Alice then took this chance to phone the pathologist and tell them what they'd found. The next step was their van would pick up the body and bring it to the morgue. As there was no obvious wounds that was one of the questions they would answer. Cause and a more exact time of death would follow. She had initial and troubling thoughts and this showed in her expression now she'd kept her food down. So might questions from her partner as she was a very expressive person even if she wasn't saying much.

Alice did have something to get of her chest but did have an observation to make before she did. "I have a hunch it will link which sets up rather disturbing possibilities". Then added "I'm so glad you clarified that".

"This is what's on my mind. Lets says at some point while we're both doing this job peace finally breaks through and we're no longer on a defence forces footing. That'll make us police officers just like in the rest of the states. Do you think that'll be strange?"

She posed her thoughts in a curious way and then added "if these deaths are part of a gang war then why does it look initally that bodies of only one gang being found? Could it be something else like vigalante activity? Or could it even be internal fighting?"

She shook her head not quite sure where these recent cases would lead. She'd voiced all her thoughts on the subjects in hand. Criminal activity was everywhere and they effectively were police forces already. It wasn't even vaguely official but that was what it felt like to Alice.

Alice heard what Francis had to say and then felt the physical contact. It was unexpected to say the least and the first thing she had to do was stop her thinking; which would lead to instinct kicking in.

They'd probally lost their best lead already with this body find but they couldn't hand the body over yet. Alice was still thinking clearly enough even with dealing with the surprise factor. She just had to stop questioning for a while. Being expressive told him she was trying and then calmness started to take hold a little at a time. She was forcing this with the help of his voice but it wasn't happening quick enough.

In a matter of a few seconds there was only one option that would give her time. Instinctively her top wings started to move and this started the backwash behind her like a giant fan. Then her tail wings twitched and she took flight still under control. It wasn't a long flight; only twenty feet straight back but there was enough distance between them now. Then she landed as calmness returned. "Sorry" was her only word as she felt she'd endangered him and let herself down. That showed on her face.

Now Alice had to fight to get mental control back as she looked at Francis. Now was not the time to feel sorry for herself as they still had their case. They should be a good pair even if it was awkward and she might well get near overloading him at other times. So she focused on the last thing he said. "We are going to catch them" she firmly said.

Then she had something else to say as her thinking was slowed down again. "I couldn't stop thinking quickly enough so needed to give you the space instead" she added. By now it sounded more like the normal Alice who questioned everything and was the action girl.

She walked back to the body but her flight hadn't disturbed anything here. There was something they had missed even with the body having no identification or even shoes and she took a photo of it. A dropped pen knife which she only picked up on because the metal in the handle caught the light. A basic type but it had to come from somewhere. "Either he owned this or somebody else did" she said pointing this out but not touching it yet.

Alice looked back at Francis having dealt with plenty of soldiers with that way of speaking. She dropped f-bombs too and replied "I grew up with soldiers round me. Talking like that was normal for them". A little smile crossed her face and then added "just give me a moment".

The investigation bag wasn't far away and she brought it over to him. She got what looked like a retractable aerial out of it so she could poke round the scene without having to grub round on her hands and knees. "At least I know how much space you need; which dosen't seem to be that much. I also want to feed the fucker who did this to the sharks".

Now she looked round in it to locate a pair of gloves in his size; then gave them to him.
