The most recent refugee ship arriving in the island had now left but this wasn't the end of the story. At least for a frightened little girl who'd stowed away it and ran off before the Ashford customs could find her. She had however been spotted heading in this general direction and this big hilly forest. It wasn't all mountain either but finding somebody here would be difficult if they didn't want to be found. So the case had landed in the lap of Officer Alice Seraphim. The exchange with her boss went something like this. "So sir, time is of the essence?" Nodding follows and then more explanation. "Seraphim, customs spotted her but didn't get a good look. They presume she's a girl because of the long hair and given the winters we get here you might not have long". A frown crossed Alice's face. He was correct in that respect was even a wrapped up human might die in the cold. An unprotected one.. much less of a chance. She saluted and packed in her chest harness what she'd need. Flashlight, her mobile phone, comms set, water bottle, folding knife, a foil blanket, medical kit, nutrition and energy bars, her 1911 (just in case though she had no intention of using it on a child) and pulled on her heavy modified winter BDU coat. As usual a hole was in it for her wings and she drove to the map reference in a jeep. She had no official driving license just yet but had shown she could do so without causing accidents in the town. It was not long after first light and she knew the clock was ticking. She felt a bit weighed down already as she kicked off and flew like a bird. The feeling was liberating but she knew she had a job to do. She was also clearly concerned as a child had as much a right to live as she did. Probably even more so. Now she needed a bit of luck as first she'd need to spot movement through the trees. (this is open to anybody and multiple characters. If you want a visual reference its like the scene in Aliens where Ripley first finds NEWT Have fun  ) |

Adam didn't know how he let Doug and that other guy into these trips now he was lost. He was the one that alic sees moving in the woods he takes out his cell to try and call those crazies "Hey Douglas Jackson you @$$ where are you both I thought we where heading to temple ? Call me back or set a fire so I can find you both " just thin he looks up and frowns still on the phone " is that a girl with wings ? Alice didn't need field glasses when she could always find a higher elevation. It was now she spied movement and carefully took out her radio.
"Pixie 01 to CP"
Then logged the time that was on her watch before she continued.
"I've spied movement in the forest. It might be her and I'll check it out. Will report shortly"
Putting the radio back into its pouch while she hovered she flew down effortlessly to the clearing where she seen the movement and gracefully touched down; just like the fairies in legend or even Peter Pan.
"Good morning. Have you seen a wild girl round here? Its a matter of life or death" she politely said. Hopefully he could provide a positive answer. If not well she'd see.

Doug often found himself out about and not with much to do but today he had happened upon two people. One he recognized as Adam and the other he did not but he pretty much assumed everyone around was nice. He heard Adam say his name and he made his way over. Doug was not bright Adam was sure for that one he hangs up "you @$$ I get a text from you to meet you out here and where are we any way this is no where near that temple you @$$ whole " he says Adam looks over at the girl with wings now he had seen everything remembing she had asked him a question "morning your going to have to be more spacific there are many girls on this island your a girl unless your a guy that had a girl inside of him" he makes a face like he is thinking "never mind in most cournterys thats still a girl can you till me what this girl your looking for looks like ? maybe her name ?" he chuckels when she says it was life and death " ok Doug I get what this is she is one of Mallorys friends right ? this is like that show in the states we are on this is a joke right ? that tv show where a friend sets up a prank and a joke this is the joke part right ?" leave it to Doug to try and do a joke on him Alice Seraphim Douglas Jackson |

Alice returned the wave that Doug sent in her direction. Listening to both guys facing her Alice knew she hadn’t framed the question right. So let’s try again. She went to the hip pocket of her trousers and took out her photo ID and showed this before putting it back again; having made sure they’d gotten a good look she smiled a little keeping things calm and professional. “I am officer Alice Seraphim of the Ashford Security Services and to answer the other question Candid Camera does not currently have a crew on this island. Perhaps you both can help me. Last night a young stowaway evaded the customs after a planned ship arrival. She is not in trouble as you’d be seeking asylum if you wanted to come here. She is smaller than me, aged between nine and twelve and was last seen heading towards this area. As she wasn’t dressed for winter her life is in serious danger. He did not know why Adam had it out for him but if the young lady had not been standing there he knew for sure that he would hit him but then things took a bit of a serious turn and he looked at Adam. "Nope, no one passed through during that time, what exactly is it that is going on?" he asked. He was terrible about knowing exactly what it was that was going on at any time. Alice certainly hadn’t been born yesterday. She also knew prior to arrival on Ashford Island and still in her mental breakdown state that she never had US citizenship despite being born in the country to parents she’d never know; she hadn't even a surname at that point but she wasn’t the flip side of a man in black. She was defending her own kind. Yet this unexpected development was something she could deal with and firstly the girl needed to be found. A secondary consideration was no more bad press but knowing the way the OSE worked she was damned if she did and damned if she didn’t. They’d twist whatever happened to suit their narrative. And then lie to really put the cherry on top. She was being open and honest and it probally wouldn't do her any good. Showing open hands she went to her chest rig pouches and took out a map of the area. A normal orienteering map which showed paths, elevations and landmarks . Then she opened it up so the guys could see it. “If you can prove who you are and what you say is true I can agree to that but you have to promise me that if she is an oddity or has the chance to become one she never ends up in the hands of the OSE” she calmly replied to Adam. Her concern was the girl and not bringing her back to her people would lead to explaining she’d have to do later on. She had courage enough to even deal with her boss. Her concern for the child also extended to after these events played out as she didn’t want another girl to grow up the way she did. Pointing out their current location she added “we are here. She could be anywhere on the map and time is short. I can radio my base then pass you the radio and you can explain to them what you told me”. She had the map stored in her head but Adam and Doug would need it for the search. **** Elsewhere on the mountain while a deal was being negotiated a little form wearing a red hoodie that was crawling out out of some packed snow. The extra ill fitting clothes she’d taken from a passenger weren’t helping with the cold and she was exhausted and hungry. Fragments of memory came back to her as she tried to remember why she came here.
Papa was telling her to run with the bug out bag while he tried to keep the uniformed police away from the farmhouse they were currently residing in. The farm itself was abandoned and the house thad seen better days but it was a refuge all the same.
When his gun ran dry she summoned fireballs to cover her and again told her to run; she did and that had been weeks ago. She had been told this island was a refuge but she just might die before she found help. The uniforms at the docks had frightened her so she ran here. She had lost the bag getting away and her time was short. Her own flames kept her slightly warm but her power wouldn't last long.Adam Parker Clark Brown Douglas Jackson (phew - extra long post ) |

Doug did work for what he supposed was the enemy but he still had hoped that he could have friends but who knew. He listened to Adam and this new girl and he took a second to furrow his brow. There was weird shit always going on around here and then there was whatever this was, Adam was a strange dude but that was okay. It was an interesting situation either way. As he heard them speak about OSE he took a second. He understood what and why, it was there job to bring in the oddities but that was because much like humans some of them as sad as it sounded could not be trusted. Now they had a plan and an alliance of sorts Alice looked back at two guys. Firstly she'd need to report this in plain language but mainly based on what Adam had said to her. Doug's allegiance was at present unknown to her but she might suspect something later if Adam kept dropping hints. Looking to Adam she nodded. "It's possible. That's a good place to hide". She took her radio out and spoke. "Pixie 01 to CP. Please come in" She then reported in telling her command what was going on before passing the radio to Adam. So he could communicate his side of the story. Alice looked to Doug and while Adam was on the radio she said "We will be in the same part of that path but I'll fly above the tree line keeping an eye out for movement. It's normally quite dense but likely to be snow clogged in winter. That's probally why few people trek it". Adam walks a little ways away so he could talk with her boss with out Doug hearing him "hello this is Adam Parker this is whats going to happen the girl in question will be handed over into my care if you have a problem with that I will just ask my friend Avery Ashford Ethan Ashfords wife if this is standard for the island security to chase after a child sooo do we have a deal ? Alice's boss didn't need much more time to consider this than she did herself. Again bad press and time was the issue and the name dropping helped too. Adam's request was agreed to but he was also told that the child's safety was the top priority. Which was why Officer Seraphim was sent as she could cover more ground than a search team could. So with the deal struck Alice had explained the lie of the land to Doug and she probally have to tell Adam the same once he came back with her radio.
