lunch friends (madison)

Seeing the text arrive she replied “I think the pier would work better”. Then sent it back. You did need to get out of work now and again and a proper lunch did help life in general. She knew she’d a deadline as she had a meeting scheduled for 3pm about her chicken project. The first stage being lab rats and that proved the principle was sound. Now phase two was doing the same by altering the dna of selected hens and comparing their eggs and chicks to what was expected.

Juana would see Madison pull up in her car. Not a fancy car but good enough to get around in. So spying Juana waiting for her she got out and waved before walking over.

"Hello Juana. What did you have in mind for lunch?" she softly posed. She wasn't a fussy eater and wondered what kind of place Juana had in mind.

Madison had made sure the roof was down as she she replied “let’s try something new in that case. Jump in and show me where this skewer joint is. I suppose you could get just a fruit skewer for dessert and vegetables and meat one for lunch”. Which made sense to her.

“Then let’s see if we can find it” Madison cheerfully replied. So once Juana got into the car it was a case of asking around but there was two food joints with the same idea. One in the old town and the other was close to the mall. Which gave Juana a choice to make,

“The old town works for me. We’ll see for ourselves soon enough” Madison replied and off they went. So pulling up near to this food outlet. “The mall can be a bit much to deal with. I prefered small eateries myself back home. The service does tend to be more personal” she added.

Soon enough they were in the queue waiting to see for themselves how good this could be.

The population of the island was diverse but Madison had a theory it might have been mainly Hispanic at the early stages. She had kept her eye out on local research and the university website and a common time frame was starting from the Spanish Empire period through to the golden age of piracy. Then people of all kinds and nationalities ended up here looking for a better life. So the queue itself showed how diverse the islands people were.

“When I came here the island still had the OSE fleet around it. Even with a worrying future at that point you got good surprises and there was always hope. The hope remains but there will be battles ahead to keep what this island stands for. It’s a good time to be alive” she replied as the queue moved slightly more. Obviously lunchtime was busy as she could pick up the scent of the cooking from this far back.

“It’s a thriving community and there’s enough to keep the children here once they grow up. Much preferable to New York even with its problems” Madison replied. “You can even go to university here”. You’d still people with poisoned minds who wanted to wreck it.

“So how are you settling in at the orphanage?” she posed.
