Are you ready to meet the devil? - Avery

“Good morning Mrs Ashford. I believe my daughter has been working with you and suggested that I’d be able to help the island in the future” a calm Canadian voice said to her. It was a phone meeting for now but could be a formal face to face one later.

“I should introduce myself. On the island I am known as Rebecca Giver. I’m also known as Lucifer to the OSE and hopefully I can stay longer; that depends if I can stay undetected by them as they probally think I’m in Mexico”. So she’d given her defecto identity to Avery and that was a risk. She could vanish again if things went south and pick up another identity and take her girlfriend with her.

So she’d work out what she could do here beyond the initial aims she had in the slums.

Listening to Avery as this morning voice meeting continued Rebecca had her coffee in front of her. Sipping from the mug she paused before saying "you could say I've been rather busy. I started when I was ten and hopefully Sophie will never have to go through what I did. All those years on the move with the law looking for me but at least I did something worthwhile in life; It wasn't fair to drag Sophie around with me so she stayed with her father" she replied. That explained the why of not being there until now. Her real name wasn't even the birth certificate.

"This island does feel like home now. My last job has finished so I'd like to stay but I would need help from you to maintain my fake identity. In return I'd be able to help out; I find out things and deal with things police can't even get close too. Those headless people smugglers were my doing and I do want to improve the slums as well. Taking out the drug smugglers would help as well" she added. She would be seen as a mercenary and henchwoman but even those could be anti-heroes. The direction she was heading in.

Rebecca did say what she did for a reason. She hadn't anything vaguely close to a normal life and bringing a child with you wasn't an option. Now she could connect properly with Sophie but it would be a long hard road.

Considering the question that was posed she replied "I'm thinking about a simpler agreement between us. We will have areas of common concern. If you back me up by making Rebecca Giver a legal national of Ashford Island I can help you at times in return. I already have my company registered and its picking up from where the White Whale contract left off". The work was steady as she still had the contacts from before but she'd need to take somebody on soon to help with the office while she was out onsite.

"Think of it like Batman being here only you know my secret identity already".

Rebecca knew she wasn’t a white knight like Batman. She had a much darker personality and could do a kidnapping job. She did prefer to not be identified by a witness before, during or afterwards all the same. She could keep Sophie on a good path as well even with this personality.

“I could do that. What can you tell me about this person?” she replied adding “I will be involved in Sophie’s life now and be able to guide her onto a good path. She’s already making good progress judging from what she told me. Baking, support dolls and even amateur drama” she added. At some point she might leave the orphanage but right now that was the best place for her.

Rebecca knew what happened if you owed money to the Mexican or Colombian cartels. If you didn’t die it still ended badly. At least this nation was more enlightened and a solution did exist to pay back the money.

“I can pay a visit to check the full details if you book in an appointment with Sabre Security. It’s just me at the moment but I’ll need to recruit later on” Rebecca replied. She’d rather not involve Alicia in this particular scheme but once she had all the details a plan could be figured out.

It did seem that cooperation would work both ways. So hearing this she replied “if I can get somebody to run the office I can take care of system installing and the ordering for now. Later on I would need help with that. Also sending somebody my way does help us to work together. I’ll have more time to actually work”. She wouldn’t be giving up crime entirely but it would mean Avery seeing what she actually got up to. That would happen anyway even if she did the recruiting herself.

“It would be nice to see the file too” she added sounding quite relaxed.
