He was used to being the baby brother and his big brothers were fine but bossy. Maybe if he got to the point where they could do stuff for him he would find them useful. "Guess I will deal with that in time." She was like a bee always moving but maybe that worked for her. "I'll put this last batch in," he said as he did and then took a seat on the counter. "We need to taste our work," he said. All this work without tasting your food was a tragedy upon Shakespeare level honestly. Rocco was strange because he was a kid so he did not understand anything really only thought he did. Sophie did do a lot but after the batch it would be bedtime for her. She could drink tea at night and still sleep so while that batch baked and she located a box for Rocco she replied “splitting one sounds good. Do you want some tea with it?” She used a French press and loose tea. She’d add ice cubes on occasion and that was unusual for a twelve year old. She barely even drank soda. Rocco Ravenmore |

He paused because wasn't she a kid like him? "Tea is for old people you look young like me." Seriously his mind was blown all over the place right now because what in the entire hell. “I barely got into drinking soda. We always had tea around at home” Sophie replied slightly surprised by Rocco’s question. She hadn’t even considered it abnormal to prefer iced tea and a travel mug. “I’ve nothing against milk and I did most of the cooking as well at home” she added. Every home and upbringing was different. By rights Sophie shouldn't have had to be the main cook but perhaps her mother could have done better in the kitchen if she'd been able to stay around. "That's alright then. Anyway the soda cans and milk is in the fridge if you want one" she replied. She was still going to make her iced tea up and got down the small French press, tea tin and got a little spoon to start the process off. "There's so many different stories round here. He nodded as he got up and fixed himself a glass of milk. "It can be a bit hard watching the small supposed cute ones go first but I think there is a chance that as long as kids our age come in and out we can be like a floating family. I have seen some of the kids around here you guys are close so it's like a family which is good." He found his seat once more. "I suppose even after children grow up and leave there's nothing to stop them coming back. I don't need adoption as I know my mother is alive and well on the island. We both think I should stay here as I'm settled in and there is a lot of family things to do" Sophie replied. So the short version of the story went like this. "My mother couldn't stay in my life after I was born. OSE were after her and its fair to describe her as a mercenary. I didn't take after her looks but I got her oddity ability. My father taught me the rest such as dirty fighting and he would have shown me guns already if he hadn't died. Now I can help look after the family here by being a big sister and baking". He was eating his cookies as she talked. Mothers were weird. "Well that is a lot of information but dirty fighting sounds fun," he said as he slightly shrugged and then he thought. What had happened to his mother, he did not really remember probably because he was so young but he had adjusted without it or so he had told himself. "Sounds like you got it all together." Even he knew that was rare. "Well look," he said thinking about this. "I have to go down to the university in the morning, do you want to go with me? I don't have one of those abilities so I could use a shield plus it's probably better if we go out in pairs, doesn't make us friends really though I am just a human that needs protecting." Even the short version was a lot to take in but Rocco had been thinking about something as well. "I could go with you and even show you round a bit more once you've done in the university" she replied. "Humans have the same things to deal with as I do living here. The worst that could happen is a robbery attempt and those are more likely to happen in the slums or old town. I won't say things are perfect but its not that much different from LA with good and bad parts in it". So until Rocco figured things out she could be his shield. Rocco Ravenmore |
