golf is just science (tag x3)

Alice had went for something that was casual smart today with trainers, a light pair of pants and a white blouse with baseball cap. Suitable for golf as she’d have plenty of mobility and it would be cooling on this nice day. She chuckled a little hearing what Lucas had confessed to her. “I didn’t know you played golf when I suggested this. It sounded like a good guy thing to do but now it’s a group outing.

So don’t worry about it. What kind of golf game are we playing? Four balls, pairs or something else?” she replied cheerfully. Now outside while they waited for Laurent and Lennox she took the chance to have a little flutter but staying near Lucas. Flight while instinctive to her still needed regular use otherwise you’d fail to make the most of it.

She was going to blame it on the fact that she was still getting used to having others to hang out with as to why she was late, but she had made it. Golfing had become something that they were going to try, and she had no skill, but it did not mean that she was not going to give it her all which was how she liked to live life.

Now everyone was here. Her knowledge of golf was limited but she did know the bigger and straighter the angle on the head was the further it generally went. A putter was made the way it was for a reason. She gave Laurent and Lennox a happy wave too.

“Darling can we get some practise before we start the golf?” she softly posed. “I know you use the club to hit the ball but how do you swing the club to get good results?”.

She did not have a proper golf swing or anything but being out in this was going to be best for her and so she was going to listen as she waited more instructions. "I second that practice because if we start right off I am going to do terrible."

The first hole was usually a long one so she went to the golf bag to pick a driver. It would make a pretty good self defence weapon as she noted its potential and realised she couldn’t manage a full swing. Her wings got in the way so she couldn’t get the club all the way up before she got it on the down swing. She’d just need more power at the point of contact instead.

While her mutation was a beneficial one she couldn’t wear normal body armour either and needed to adjust her clothes to even get to wear them. So a couple of shortened swings later she asked Lucas “is it possible to add more power on the way down?” Even golf needed her to adjust things.

"I am going to need all the practice that I can get," she said but it was all about learning. "I think at the time of this I thought that I might score high but in golf you are supposed to score low and that is where I am starting but a few swings never hurt anyone."

Alice heard what everybody had to say and still had the driver in her hand. So making a space for herself started her own experiment in golf. She was trying to figure out how to add the extra power she’d need on the down swing and felt happy with her initial practice swings.

“I feel ready to give this a go” she cheerfully said. The swing felt smooth just like her tennis forehand.
