Oddities are individuals born with extraordinary gifts. Because of this they are hated, feared and generally persecuted across the globe. In an attempt to give them a refuge the billionaire Theodore Ashford has created Ashford Isle. Presented as a Sanctuary for the special some believe their to be much darker motives behind his generosity.
Ashford Isle
A state of the art city powered completely by renewable energy, gorgeous modern building erected against the backdrop of a tropical paradise. It has all the luxuries modern technology can afford accompanied by the natural beauty and serenity only nature can provide. This city is open to all Oddities and their families, along with several hundred A.R.I. employees, it boast a modest population of just over 5,000 individuals consisting of a mix between both human and oddity. This wonderful utopia however is shaded in mystery both metaphorically and literally. The United Nations have dispatched several fleets of O.S.E. ships near the island, this gives the coastline a ominous view.

She did not trust Hunter on the island so she had asked him to meet her in New Hampshire so that he could see their daughter. She had not had their daughter tested but she felt she was at the least human plus. She was not going to talk to Hunter only pass their daughter off and then go on with her little self worth vacation. "Okay," she said as she found a bench in the very public park and held her daughter. She did not even think that this was the right thing to do but she did not have it in her to just not let him see her once. "No worries Echo the sooner he starts showing his ass the sooner we can leave." He knew nothing else that much was evident but maybe she would get lucky and he would not show up too. New Hampshire? What the fuck? Also a public park? He took a seat and put his hands out. "Let me hold her Daphne," he said. "Also this place sucks," Like why did she not have any better taste. "Now let me hold my daughter and we can take her for a walk to Madame Sherri's Castle. True enough it's just ruins now but it's the only good thing about this stupid state." "How you can be sad when you have our princess I do not absolutely know but I mean if you do not want her you can just give her to me and I'll make sure that she loves me a lot." Sometimes it got hard being strong but then some kind of way things found themselves to be needed. "Hunter we are not going for a walk. We are doing this visit right here and yes in a public place. You don't get seclusion so you can be nice and then turn around and not be nice when you do not get your way." She slid away from him. "I need distance because what I am going to say you will not like." It was the usual with them. "Hunter as soon as you start raging, I am leaving. I have a lot going on and since our last meeting, it literally hurts my heart to be around you, so I am going to do this co parent thing with you as long as you are nice but the second that you start stressing me out is the second that I leave and the same applies when we get back to the island." Rawr. He looked at her when she started giving him the what for and he blinked his eyes because was she serious? That brought a chuckle out of him because it was funny but her sliding from him not so much as he looked at her. "You probably got syphillis anyway," he said and then she was going on in on him again. "I broke your heart? Oh yeah score Daphne!!," he said extremely excited by this fact. "I mean hell that sucks for you but for me that means my magic is better than I thought. You know I thought that something was up with that color change but oh well, you lived, we learned that I am more powerful now than I was a few weeks ago, and so that is a win win." Oh to be in your own world when your thoughts and goals were all that mattered. He turned towards her and he spoke. "So you came here with a broken heart?" What? "Girl I am wearing you down yet, this love is going to be fantastic," he said. Not that he'd ever love her like that, he was too selfish. "Must hurt when you get anxious and stuff like that huh?" That had to be hard to deal with he thought as he gently reached over and took the baby from her. "Careful Daphne," he said as he winked at her. "A broken hearted girl," he said as he stood up with Echo. "Never thought I'd see the day," he said as he began to walk through the people and he began to hum. He paused and looked back at Daphne. She sighed as he started insulting her and then to make fun of her was a new low as she put her hands together and carefully traced the hidden H's on them as he kept talking. "Actually Hunter," she said. "It does hurt and it's hurting me a lot right now." Pain, constantly reminding her about him and how it was not an easy road to take but a road that must be taken none the less. She nodded as she continued to listen to him. "Yeah a broken hearted girl" she said as she watched him walk with their daughter. A picture perfect family that they could have been but time and time again he was always pushing her away but today was a day for revenge. She got up and walked towards him and carefully got Echo back in her arms, speaking as she did. "Funny Hunter because I can't seem to forget certain things and sometimes I get so angry trying to think about it all that I find that sometimes anger is not the best way to go and then there are times like today when anger is the best way to go." She turned and made her way back and made sure that Echo was safely tucked away in her carrying buggy. "You have about three seconds to throw a protection spell over her before I take you down," she said as she turned to him and put her hands up. "Your orange traces are in my skin, just as your hunter green jewelry is still in my back," she said as she pulled out a shard of the jewelry and felt a tear fall down her face. He turned as soon as he heard her say actually because now she had his attention. As far as he was concerned pain was good so what was her issue as he looked at her and aw their little family interaction was getting to him because it was so cute but then she took the baby from him and that caught him off guard as he listened to her talking about forgetting things. "Three seconds to what?" he said as he threw a protection spell around his daughter as he looked at Daphne. "Aw your hands look ever amazing," he said as he watched her pull a shard out and then seen her crying. "Ooh," he said because she was serious which only made him need to prove how much of a bigger jerk he was as he looked at her now that he was close enough to touch her face. She had to keep her head clear because even if he was telling the truth his history made it extremely clear that he would do that by any means necessary and that was why she had to draw her line and stick to it. "Have you ever thought that you are the reason that this is like it is Hunter?" She could not do a yelling contest with him. "Do you not understand how hard this is for me? Of course you do not because you do not see it from my point of view." That was life though a person wanting another to understand and the other not being able to. "It is extremely hard to love someone who is so fucked up that they will never love you back and it is even harder to share a child with that same person. You have no idea the amount of times that you have broken my heart and even if you do, the fact that it sits in me now is just a constant reminder that you are a very terrible person." She sighed. "Hunter I am trying and I am pushing but truthfully it is just me trying as I stare off an edge and I am pushing myself over it just to have an ounce of normal with you when it comes to our daughter and you give me nothing but grief. It is not fair but you do not care, you do not play fair at all and you never will." God he was so frustrating but sometimes he made sense. "I need you to shut up for a few seconds," she said before she realized it. Maybe her anger was starting to take over but she just needed him to understand and so many times it had felt like words had failed her before hand as she threw her hands up. "I am constantly feeling like I am drowning," something that she kept telling him and he was not listening but what she did not know was that her power was kicking in. "Have you ever drowned Hunter?" she screamed to him as the world around them changed but it was not the normal black and white that she had became used to showing up, no this was very blue and very wet and more than that colorful as she took a deep breath. "She's fine" he said. Poor Daphne, all that performance art and no trust with it. That he actually got because when a person who did not have an ability came into an ability how were they to know that they had to use it to their advantage. "Daphne you need to put trust into your ability or it's going to get the best of you every time," Look at her forever failing. "I don't know why I keep messing with you in the end you just have not an ounce of trust in your body and that is going to hurt you more than anyone else in the end." He shook his head. "People like me do not drown Daphne, we learn to forever go along with the current something you need to learn to do," he said as he walked along the water like world and then got down into it with her. "Magic is amazing but performance art is better," he said as he slowly began to hum as he took her hand. "Trust in it Daphne even if you lack trust in me and never say I did nothing for you." He put his hand up, raising her hand at the same time as the magic flowed through his hand but stopped at hers. "Magic is a toy, an unwinding lack of control that I have done my best to learn about but performance art Daphne, it's a world that skates just on the outside of magic. The two are so alike and yet so different that they lean on one another and the echoes of the lines that ever so lightly join them, pure bliss." He gently pushed his hand into hers, still up in the air. "You don't have to be nice to me, but you will learn from me and that is something that neither you or I can fight against." She was barely listening to him because as soon as he started with his touches of her hand she blinked. This was so difficult as she finally started listening to him how much of a cocky bastard could one be in the end? "W..w.." Her tongue completely tied as she found herself tripping over her own words something that she did not like as she listened to him. "What are you doing to me?" she asked. Maybe she meant that, her heart, her broken pieces she was not sure but she felt it. It did not help that it felt like her heart was being pulled back together either. "My heart hurts," she said as she looked at him. "I don't like it being broken and I know that you can fix it but you are refusing." Back here they were. "W..w.." He blinked at her and then he spoke. "You're losing your speech," he said. Holy crap his magic was working faster than he thought. It would not be long before Daphne was in a coma and would need serious help. He felt only slightly bad about that as he looked at her. "Because you won't give me what I want so I have to punish you. I mean Dr. Stratin is going to try but he can't really fix you." He laughed about that. "I mean maybe if him and my dad can work together they can but other than that, you're living on borrowed time in this timeline. You need to go back to mine at least some weird version of it," he let her hand go and threw his magic up in the air as he moved. "Come on I can show you better than I can tell you." For once he was going to be truly nice to her. "You talk about me not feeling what you feel? Daphne you don't know what I know," he said as he stepped through the magic as it fell on his head. "You see Daphne you only think that this is our first go around? Darling," he said as he laughed. "We are pure magic and regret, but beautiful." She said she wanted a love story, she did not say she wanted lingering and hurt. That much he knew. "Your tears that you cry here? Daphne nothing than those I cry for you every night, for every light in my time in our house is on." He stepped through and waited to see if she would to. She trusted that this was a good decision as she looked back at their daughter, protected and all. "Okay," she said as she walked towards him and sneezed as she felt her head hit. "Not our first go round then?" she said as she looked at him. Were they a love story frozen in time? Were they a performance, she felt her throat catch again as she stepped into the darkness and out of pure fear grabbed his hand. "It's cold here Hunter," she said as she could hear the music but it sounded different. It was another song as she looked at him because the song was not a pretty one, it was sad, about loss, both memory and physical and just waiting. "Okay," she said. "I'm listening," God let this have some color in it because right now this darkness was scaring her because she did not like feeling alone at all. Hunter Quinzell |
