coming home - Alice

Alice found that sex was fine and felt good. It was the pregnancy that caused the pain and she would have to heal up before she could so anything in a normal manner. Perhaps except fly. She looked back at her boyfriend another sip of coffee. She'd missed this and couldn't figure out why her body rejected it while she was pregnant; that was another question to answer.

"Lucas, the pain happened during the pregnancy. So I can separate the two things. Also our darlings may not need much daycare if we can both alter our working hours a little. At least you can do some work at home; that's not an option for me" she replied.

"The neonatal nurse did explain it could be a difficult birth and that is what happened; it was even tougher than anything I went through growing up or being shot". She couldn't deny that and she had gone through tough things all though her life.

"And it did. I could have done with 48 hours sleep after that but I did get to start to know Aurora and Ayden. Do you realise she's showing oddity traits already. She's cold to the touch and her breath is cold too. Could be be checked out further in ARI?"

Extra information might well be important to help her and her parents deal with this. It might also guide what powers would eventually show.

Looking back at Lucas she said "I thought I was quick showing a trait at four. She's ready to go right away and I agree with doing this the way you suggest. Avery will find out anyway however we do this". Alice seen that as a fact and most of her bad experiences in labs had been overcome but not all. She felt protective of Aurora too as she finished her coffee and brought her carry basket over her side; so she could be doted on by the two of them. She wasn't asleep; just quiet and moving around so Alice took her out of the basket now used to the coldness and let her lie back in a pair of pillows.

Then came some noises as she got a good look round.

She did have a suggestion. "Would working with your closest colleagues put your mind at rest?". She has noticed his unease but the more they knew the better they could help Aurora. In turn Aurora could help other oddities with similar abilities in time but there was still that ghost of her past and her children weren't going to grow up like she did.

Ayden was happy to stay in his carry basket so he could see everything where he was. "Darling I'm sure I'll be able to manage this as long as you are there" she replied and then she looked over to her son. "He'll be fine a while longer" she added as Aurora looked like she was going to sleep where she was. She even turned onto her side to get comfortable.

Alice did wonder what else would show itself with Aurora but she would be loved no matter what.

Knowing not only did she have Lucas but also possible help from Sam put her mind at rest. It also wouldn't be hard to put a support networks of moms together given Blythe had also gone through this. She also had other friends to let know the babies were home but that would be later.

Lucas did have a question and she gave the matter some thought. "Darling I was an early starter so given she'd got half of me in her I wouldn't have been surprised to see wing buds on one of our little ones. Wings might still happen later on and you might still have your hide and seek champion.

But could being born here have triggered an ability right away? It's something she'll grow into and use later in life but she does have the seeds of an ability already" she posed.

Alice knew a little of what happened before this was Ashford Isle. She'd been through an island event, seen records about archeology sites in ARI and even been in an ancient temple with Damon. A temple only they seemed to know about right now. There did seem to be a huge gap between dinosaurs and the current population which did mean a lot of questions. Also there had been an existing population before a lot of people including herself had came here.

So with these fragments of information she replied "I hope they grow up to have a full life and the freedom to express themselves. If I can give them that I'll have done well; but I have seen records that predated the Ashford's buying the island. Specifically ARI have archaeology surveys and relief maps of the island. Quite a bit doesn't seem to have ever been settled which is odd given this is a large island and I should go to the university to see if their archeology department has found more. That pirate ship found in the cove of wonders is another clue about the past of the island.

Right now there's only the new city, the old town and the slums themselves which have settlement. There had to have been more in the past".

So she let the ideas ferment a bit more and added "there's a lot we don't know about this island. You could be right about a person born here won't have to wait until they're ten to show abilities. It might be a good idea to talk to Sam and Ace in general about this. John is older but if he is also showing an ability it might show us possibilities going forward.

I'm not a scientist but I still observe. Just what if the island itself is encouraging a new stage of evolution?"

Quite a question that was posed but it was was her thoughts on the issue.

"I suppose a lot of early settlements happened on the coast. That's how the colonies that became the USA got going but it looks like the people who arrived here were round at the same time as that pirate ship. I think that's the time frame involved" Alice mused and added "back then life was hard. They might have settled for the pretty". She did think that was possible but if there was people here in the 1600's did the current population before the island changed its name descend from them?

"I certainly believe its possible that the island is changing and new things are scary to deal with. However we do have two little ones who will inherit all of this and who knows what they'll make of the island when its their turn to figure things out" she added as Aurora rolled onto her back and woke up again with a cry. So Alice carefully nestled her in her arms; the cold would take some getting used too but she would. Running at a colder body temperature was unusual but so was her parents abilities.

"There there Aurora" she softly said and she nursed her.
