So something basic to play candy crush and do schoolwork. There were plenty of options like that and basic usually meant an Android. So that was where she started to look. It would still be a good idea to get a hard case and a glass screen. So this gave her an idea. “You know Eric you could get that phone” pointing to one “and it’s still less than a more expensive option. So you could get a cheap laptop for your schoolwork for the same basic cost as a known brand” she suggested. She knew the value of money given she’d been a hungry student and even with a job that paid well she knew a basic computer would be enough for school or college. “I also knew I was into girls when I was thirteen but didn’t have a steady girlfriend until the end of high school. “I guess a party is in order when that happens. Why not have it at the orphanage where your friends are?” she replied. He did look younger than fifteen and a sixteenth birthday was a big deal. “Don’t worry, I won’t book anything embarrassing for you. And it’s good to not rush anything”. “I think stuffed crusts and two of them. Then we can mix and match” Madison suggested with a smile. So going to the food court that was what they ordered as two 10 inch pizzas equalled one large one. “I remember my sixteenth birthday and my parents made it quite fancy. I even had to wear a dress for it. It’s it ironic I’m back in dresses again now I’m here” she mused and added “I’m not going to put you in a suit but how about some new t-shirts while you’re here?” The ideal chance to update a wardrobe. He thought about what he wanted. "I just want cake," he said. "I mean cake is my first and last death wish food so if the cake is good then whatever happens after it I will be fine with." Cake was a given for a birthday party and that would be provided. “You’ll get cake. That’s a given” she cheerfully replied. “Now to get some clothes before we pick up dinner” she added and they started looking. She’d helped her brother pick out clothes so knew what to look for. This should not be as hard as it was as he thought about the clothes. "Yeah I do not really know what style is so I am just going to get basic jeans and t shirts and as I grow and learn who I am my style is allowed to change right?" He then had a serious thought. Madison heard the plans about a car. Eric was pretty close to being old enough to learn how to drive and it was something she could do herself. She just didn’t have much need for a car right now but that could change if she had to attend meetings and visit work sites. “There are garages near the apartments. So you could keep a car. I don’t see a problem driving if you learn how to do it safely” she replied. Then added “jeans and t-shirts are easy. I even did that when I was your age. You’ll find more style ideas later on”. "Haunted as in something like Scooby Doo?" she posed back. They'd tried to do that as a group and ended up finding a real body instead of a murder mystery but perhaps Eric's party might be different. "You'd need a venue and permission to use it but keep thinking about the small details " she suggested. She didn't have the same level of active imagination as Eric had but she supposed that was part of being an adult. You lost more of that as you got older but there was always children around to encourage what you had left. "I'll bring you and Mickie something back from New York " she added with a smile. She’d find out Eric’s sizes once she got him new clothes today so something that was apparel looked like it would be the NY gift. He said she was was awesome so she smiled as they entered the department store. They’d to go down in the mall to get here as this was a pie slice at the very bottom two floors. “Thank you Eric” she spoke smiling. Then he had more to add. “So my brother said yes. I hope it goes well but I’d never thought of Mia countering the supernatural forces. Goes to show that you can be surprised round here. Also I have a friend called Amber who is working as Avery Ashford’s nanny. If you are not going to stay in the orphanage while we are gone I can ask her to drop in from time to time. I keep telling her she is a kid and she is just growing up but Mickie in her drunk ramblings insists that it is more but I think it's just the alcohol and that is fine.
