Blythe - you bring the fruit juice

Alice had never known anything to be easy during her life. Things got better for her once here and working but they still weren't easy. At least she'd channeled a sense of the injustice heaped on her as a child into something very positive now but there was still that angry little girl in the dark times of a soul and that would remain.

So she nodded, listened and then finally replied "I won't know if any of them have wing buds until they're born but they will draw from Lucas and myself. I know a girls name but got no idea about a boy.

I'm thinking Aurora right now and a good name is the first right thing you do for a child".

Alice smiled a little as she listened to Blythe talk. Before too long even walking would be harder but she’d still be brave as going through a pregnancy was as dangerous as any case she’d been on.

“I know Aurora is a Disney princess name but she can still shorten it if she wants later on. It could have been worse because I was thinking Bambi at one point but I do want Lucas to pick the boys name. Perhaps there’s some weird tradition of juniors in the family but I don’t think he’ll let his son down. He’s been so much help already” she replied.

She was still hungry as the pulled chicken did seem to go so well with the salad. She had improved her cooking since she met Lucas and now she was finally getting the time to try more complex ideas. She then had a question to ask. “Have you thought of a name yet?”

"Disney films and Scooby Doo were the early rewards I remember fondly. Along with ice cream and a birthday cake every New Years day. So I suppose those princesses were a strong influence on me. Therefore my daughter and son will see the same things and know what they can do is unlimited" she replied. That was why New Year tended to matter to her more than Christmas as it was also her birthday as far as she was concerned.

"I can picture Aurora doing my job when she's an adult. Perhaps by then she'll have a steady peace to work in rather like her mother who can still be called up to defend the island; or she could be a scientist like her father. I don't think it'll take long to figure out what she's really into. So will her brother.

You will think of something but do you know the gender yet?" Alice posed before taking a drink of the fruit juice.

While things felt more normal Alice knew they could change quickly. The direction and view point the next US President took on oddities also affected them and she couldn't even vote. For now they looked good and she appreciated that. Normal also meant going on hunts to bring in people mentioned on arrest warrants but she did wonder just how US states would react if Ashford Isle issued some of of their own warrants.

"We do have peace and normality for now but it wasn't that long ago I couldn't get the US news. I got my news from the BBC World service on the radio" she replied and added hearing her gender reveal. "He might surprise you as he grows up . We could help them grow up together. While we work for different employers who can't fully trust each other that does not have to affect them in the future. At least with two mothers like us he'll get a good example to aspire to".

The possibility of war had never felt far away during her parents time and now the same possibility existed here. The BBC news was anti oddity but at least it was truthful by reputation unlike her own country. “I don’t think it matters who the president is. Our nation started to question its government back in the Vietnam war, found they were lying and haven’t trusted them since. I found that growing up and nothing has changed. So peace will remain as long as the voters want it to” Alice mused.

“However what is on this island is different from the rest of the world. A good place for our children to grow up on” she added. It was also her home to defend.

Alice found her job easy to define. Blythe’s sounded harder to define by her thinking but kept in the dark laws did do some good and gave protections to her kind. There was still the terrible reputation that OSE had to deal with but they were talking as mothers to be. Play dates would certainly be on the agenda.

“We do both have the law in common but could I pose a question? How effective do you think ‘kept in the dark’ laws really are? I never had anything normal to compare them too; at least until I got to Guadeloupe on that case. Threads from that led back to Julius Lanchester and look like they might lead to others stateside” she posed but they had done great things in that case.

So the question needed to be clarified. Hearing what Blythe had to say she replied "people know about that law in the US and its a federal law; so no states interference is going to affect it. It gives oddities legal protection from hate groups but on the other hand would you be happy if you couldn't use your abilities? Then knowing if you did for whatever reason that you would be treated like a criminal. Even when trying to do good".

That was the first part of the answer as she added "its like being left handed like I am and told you have to use your right hand for everything. The guns I use aren't designed with that in mind but that another story. So given an oddity is damned if they do use their ability even for good and liable to be criticised if they do nothing and keeping the law what do you think they'll ultimately end up doing? People on the whole want to be good but being chased by authorities can also drive them into a life of crime."

A poser even for a lawyer but Alice seen the question clearly.
