Blythe - you bring the fruit juice

Alice heard the knock and then the call from Blythe. Then she walked over to answer the door. Right now Alice and Lucas were trying to figure out which apartment to stay in. If they lived here the flower room would have to make way for the nursery. Lucas and Sam did share their apartment but both couples would have to figure these arrangements out.

“I’m coming” Alice called out still smoothing her blue dress down and feeling it was going to look as good as it was going to get she opened the door with a little smile for Blythe. She had been showing a little at the group therapy. Now it was way more obvious and even with resting more she still looked tired. “Please come in Blythe. Everything is ready to be served up”. She may not have been crying but the heat and the nausea were starting to get her down. Lucas was not going to get her knocked up again unless he seriously earned his brownie points along with wining and dining.

“Not so good Blythe” she admitted. “We had quite a shock after the first scan”.

Alice was handed the mini portable and said “thank you Blythe. There’s more going on than I thought”. Then she sat on the sofa with lunch still in the kitchen. Then looked back at Blythe again. “Lucas and myself had our first scan. It’s not one baby. Two in fact. So feeling so tired shouldn’t be a surprise.

You don’t have to be a detective to figure out the rest”.

It just wasn’t the heat that was kicking her ass. It was the second baby.

Blythe's concern was obvious as Alice was small and slightly built to begin with. The shock was passed for her and now she had to deal with the reality of this.

"It dosen't feel like a shock anymore. They think its a boy and a girl but the next scan will confirm that. I guess I have to be alright with it but it was no wonder my ass was being kicked. They feel quite active already but I don't feel as sure about this now as I was initaly" she replied quietly adding "I'll get the pulled chicken salad so we can start". She'd seen Sam and Ace's baby boy and how Sam was dealing with motherhood. She wasn't sure if she could do this or not.

So getting to her feet and returning with their salad and chicken they just needed the plates and condiments. The dining table was already set.

One more trip brought everything that was needed for lunch and along with what Blythe brought they were all set to talk and eat. Alice had coped but it was hard and getting harder. “Lucas is with me on the journey. We didn’t plan on starting that so soon though but two little lives had other plans. Right now it feels like they’re trying out for the Jaguars football team and are impatient” she softly replied.

She gave Blythe the chance to take what she wanted from the bowl first but now she was eating for three she did need to eat a lot more often than she used too. “So how has your experience been?” she asked. She did hope her friend had an easier time.

Alice wasn’t quite sure if she could do this motherhood thing. Yet she knew she couldn’t handle the guilt if she didn’t try. The guilt would be even worse if the child ended up in an orphanage because she couldn’t cope. Blythe’s words helped as she started to eat.

“The first stage was love for Lucas. Then getting closer it was hard to live without him. Now two babies are going to depend on us and he’s the most calm between us” Alice softly replied. “Then they’ll have play dates together with your baby. Probably even end up going to school together if your service continues on this island”.

“You’ve seen me being an action hero. As well as leader of men and women so I understand teamwork So does Lucas” Alice replied and that answered the question for Blythe. “However I still have doubts about being able to do this. I seen one way of doing this as I grew up but I don’t know how much help we’ll have and we both work” she added. Her voice showed those doubts but also herself knowing she had to pull this off.
