extra long time fun - Alice

Alice was making her way back home after an earlier day. Not everyday was an exercise in danger and frontline police work. Sometimes Francis and herself split off to aid their fellow officers in the uniformed PD. Vice squad in this case and today she had looked over seized examples of oddity themed porn magazines. Clearly photographed here and about to leave these shores. Some would see the light of day in the region but so be it. They might even make people realise that a female oddity was still a woman. They weren’t even illegal on these shores as long as the reader was of adult age. They were found as part of another raid merely evidence in a locker now.

She’d found the whole thing amusing all the same. So able to leave a bit earlier in the day she happened to run into Mallory. It had been quite a while as she picked herself up still in a pants suit suitable for a police officer. “I’m fine. No need to worry. Mallory?” she called out. It really had been quite a while since they’d hung out.

(also before she was shot and found out she was pregnant)

Alice also put that down that they couldn’t end up very far from each other on an island. Even a large one. Not even criminals strayed too far from the city they lived in which made this a self contained community.

“Yeah Mallory. Things got busy fast and I found myself in the front line police work and a leadership position. I’ve been doing things you’d see in action movies but you do get to see the dark side of humanity as well as its good side. I’m a lead detective so along with my partner we work up a case usually a dangerous one to the stage the PD can take it over. Also I’m doing crime scene investigations too” Alice replied. There were specifics she couldn’t talk about but even the generalisations were dangerous and fun.

“I’m getting serious with a new guy now. He works in ARI and it feels like we were made for each other. So what have you been up too?”

Surely going to therapy was good? At least Alice thought so. She knew all about that when she first arrived and needed time and help to deal with her own troubles. “Mallory sometimes you need the help. I know I did when I first arrived” she advised.

Then added “I have dealt with Ace. One of the rare occasions there has been case cooperation with OSE and local forces. It was a weird night. Anyway try and keep having fun.

So what brought you out today?”

Alice hadn’t mentioned there was a more recent case but while respect with individual OSE agents existed there was a lot of barriers still in the way. Trust was thin a the ground and given their very bad reputation it was herself who was given these cases. Perhaps down to previous experiences with their predecessors but this was another chapter in her career. So Dirty Harriet kept charging into danger.

“That’s true” she acknowledged and then Mallory had more to say. “The last time we went shopping we came back fully loaded. Then we had the beach party. Do you want to stop and get some coffee and food. I’ve been feeling more tired lately”. She didn’t suspect any particular reason why.

"Perhaps I'm just working too hard" Alice sighed. The Mallory made a suggestion and an observation.

"I'm the wrong person to ask about that I'm afraid. That would be my boyfriend who works in ARI" she added. She had tried to come to an conclusion about the island event and drawn a big blank apart from figuring out it was natural. She was better then it came to cops and robbers. "It is an interesting question all the same". She smiled now and had something else to say.

"Lets find somewhere that does food in that case. What did you have in mind?"

The crime rate wasn’t falling in the slightest. She was just able to delegate a bit more and get some time off.

“Fish and sauce sounds good to me” she replied. “I’m able to delegate a bit more now. Crime isn’t going down that much no matter how many criminals get scooped up. Though some types are being reduced” she added. A shorter day was good but a day off would be better.

She smiled and spoke again. “Please lead the way Mallory. Dinner sounds good”.

“Everybody needs friends Mallory. I can deal with difficult places like the slums as my cases lead me there so if you know a place in a rougher part of town I’m open to ideas” she cheerfully added.

“So how is the therapy going?” she also posed. She felt secure in her life with a loving boyfriend; also a partner and they made a great team. By rights what she was seeing as part of her job should be leaving her needing therapy so far but so far she didn’t.
