Sophie was still having to deal with pain from two sources so she wondered if taking her mind of things would help. So a quizzical look followed what Gavin said. "I hope that works. I'm already on the maximum level of pain killers I can take but it still hurts. It's the other pain that bothers me more. I can't even escape that in my dreams" she sadly replied. She did know being focused on something in the past did block out distractions as well as opening up the awareness of things round her. Could this have came from both her parents? Then she had to stop for a moment. a pain had shot down her left leg and that showed in her expression. Having pain was supposed to be good? At least in a medical sense. Then she felt able to move again. Gavin Shaw

"You could always try hypnosis if it comes to that," he said. "Sometimes it helps with pain," he said as he watched her and then he watched her stop. "Let's take a seat right here, right outside," he said as he waited on her. "So you've been placed in the orphanage yet or no?" He was a little worried if the place was truly as good as it seemed to paint itself to be. Sophie Chang

Gavin advised she stop for a moment so she did easing herself down into the seat and keeping hold of her crutches. The pain eased a little as he advised an extra treatment for it. She'd still have to live with the pain for a good while yet since she'd to complete rehab and get back to moving round normally again. "Do you know how to do that?" Sophie posed quietly. Then added "I have been placed there but haven't seen much of it beyond my room. The room itself has the basics and I got a cell phone along with this purse and my keycard. I've also picked up the debit card from the bank and some cash. I took over my aunt's account. I've honestly been in too much pain and taking the painkillers to see much of it yet though I met some other children. They're older than me and it'll take time to get to know them". Her viewpoint as she hadn't enough information yet. Gavin Shaw

"I can," he said. "Though I pride myself on complete honesty and i have never put a child under hypnosis. It is not that I am against it , it just that I have never came across a case that needed it but if you become comfortable and it is approved by an adult, perhaps mrs ashford or a doctor or any person in a sort of high position it could be worked out for you." He nodded. "How many painkillers do you take a day? How intense is the pain even after the method of taking them?" Sophie Chang

How strong was her dose? She wanted to be awake and not in a fuzzy haze all the time; but it was a case of having little pain and being out of it totally or some intense pain and being able to interact with the world. As long as she took care she could so the latter. "You might have to Gavin. If I took the maximum dose I'd be out of action and I want to know what's going on. So its two every four hours and while I can move round and it still hurts a lot when I move. I think the pain killers that knock me out are a different kind" she replied. She was also showing how stubborn she was as she didn't want to be left out of things that affected her. This also showed just how much she wanted her mobility back. It was as vital a factor as her oddity power was. Gavin Shaw

"It's your choice in the end so let me know when you think that you are ready if you reach where you want to do it." Being a therapist was learning to walk a very fine line and he tried his best to always remember that. "Just making sure you are receiving the best ones for your age and weight," he said. "I've seen one too many overdoses but yours sound fine." Sophie Chang

So with her medication sounded like the way it should be Sophie tried to move her left leg again She thought she might need it braced slightly as she had nothing on it yet. That was something to ask about in the orphanage she supposed. "So far that sounds right" she replied. "Did you ever break a leg or something like that? It feels strange being able to move my left leg but not being able to put weight on it" she added pointing to where the surgery scar was but hidden by her dress. Then came another question. "Will this be easier to deal with later on? Missing my auntie and father" she softly asked. Her look was slightly sad and she wasn't talking about her physical pain right now. Gavin Shaw

"I've broken a good amount of my own bones in my day. You would not know it to look at me now but I used to be a wild child. It gets easier and eventually maybe with a bit of physical therapy you did get your movement back." He paused. "I don't know if I would say it gets easier so more as you just learn to live and adjust which makes it seem easier does that make sense?" Sophie Chang

Sophie felt she had rested long enough and taking hold of her crutches got to her feet. One foot anyway. Stubborness was certainly at work. So hearing what Gavin had to say she started by nodding once the bit of pain had passed. "I played softball before coming here. I know about pain and injury but this was very different. I want to walk properly and do what I did before" she softly said. "it does make sense what you say. Hopefully it will get easier". Gavin Shaw

"Pain is always tricky, do you think it is because you might be having emotional distress at the same time?" he asked as he watched her. Stubborn people were strong but it did not mean that helping them was an easy task. "If it does not, then we can look into a different form of treatment for you too, safe of course but there would need to be an adult to sign off on that." Sophie Chang

Now she was standing things felt a bit easier for her. Looking back and up at Gavin she give what he had to say a bit of though and had a reply for him. "I know I've both the pain of loss and the pain after the operation. I want to know what's going on round me and be able to help others. I don't know if that answers your question but its the only answer I have right now". Then she spoke again. "What else do you recommend as a treatment?" She shifted slightly and sat down again since he wasn't going anywhere. Gavin Shaw

"Anything but shock therapy really and that is not only because you are young but that is a method that I do not believe in at all for anyone." He took a seat and gave it more thought and spoke again. "You will be able to figure out which therapy works for you it just sometimes does take a good bit of time." Sophie Chang

So Sophie figured she'd have to let things run their course for a while. It was clearly going to be a while until she was fully mobile again and her shoulders were sore too as her arms had to do the work of mobility. Gavin had joined her on the other seat by now. "I'm trying to get into the kitchen so I can bake for the others. I'm sure I could improve the cooking once they let me" she replied. Gavin Shaw

He laughed because it was not funny but insightful. "My favorite thing about meeting new people is seeing what they can bring to the table. It seems like you might be making friends there?" That was the whole point of the orphanage which he thought was a good thing. "Did the woman running it speak to you about the curfew that is in place?" Sophie Chang

Sophie thought about shrugging sore shoulders and figured talking would be better. "It does feel that way Gavin. They're all older than me and seem to have their own high school class on site. I'm not sure how it'll work with me but I might get back to elementary school; if not I'm sure something will be worked out. I was the main cook in the family from when I was eight. Neither my father or my aunt were very good at it. Now I just might be able to bake and help with the cooking there. That was also mentioned. Not something I'm honestly that used to but probally will adapt to it". Sophie knew her life would change from the path that had been expected but would that mean being a good girl now? Could she still be an adventurer? Gavin Shaw
