He could still hear his heart beating fast but it seemed that they were safer now and he did like that. He looked at around the area and he did think that the city had some pretty parts even if they did seem a bit more dangerous at the moment. "I do not feel bad about it," he finally admitted. There was something about saying it aloud that made it so bad though he did not feel that. "Does that happen often to you?" Sophie Chang

With a little bit of balance restored to the universe they felt on safer ground at least. In fact she could even see her apartment building from here though it was still far away. Jack had something to admit as they were at normal walking pace now. She understood that given the person facing her would have the same problem to deal with; actually killing somebody didn't happen that often. Which made it very hard to deal with when it did happen. She felt she could do it if there was no other option. "I haven't had to deal with gang fighting that often. Normally you have enough space to avoid the problem but we just got unlucky. That guy who was off his head was the one who gave us away and he's going to continue to have a sore one for a while to come" she softly replied. "I'll be able to get you something useful for next time shortly. I'm picking up throwing knives tomorrow and ordered a set for you" she added with a little smile. He would get a lot of use out of those compared to her but a rock still did the job. "I can do some cooking once we get back to the apartment if you want to stay for a while" she suggested. Jack P. Jack was a little, where the world seems to drown itself out and you are still trying to be aware of it all but you can hear your heart beat as he looked around trying his best to find his focus and he spoke. "Okay okay, that sounds fine." He was too hyped up on adrenaline to do too much but damn it he was so young and already traumatized why was this life. He slowly started walking beside Sophie again as he could finally feel himself calming down. "I am sorry this day took such a shitty turn." Sophie Chang

Jack followed her but he clearly didn't look alright. He even said so as he apologised to her. She'd known about this problem before getting to the isle so could deal with it more easily than he could; but it still would give her plenty of things to think about. She looked calm but this would hit her later on and thoughts turned to balancing out Karma. "It wasn't your fault that things went wrong that badly. Even I figured we could just outrun them even with short cutting over their roof" she softly replied giving him a hug. She'd make to make it up to him back at her apartment instead. So with not far to go she'd have to figure out what to cook in the wok given her aunts shopping habits. She kept plenty of food you'd recognise in any Hong Kong home even with all those years living in the USA. Jack P. J.

"Thanks but I mean it's still shitty." Hell why did he feel like this he did not know he only knew that he was not going to let it get to him too much. "I hope that it does not keep you from wanting to hang out with me. I feel like we can have some fun but not as much uh death." Even saying the word was a bit much for him but he was being honest. "If I were over twenty one I would be drinking now," he said as he laughed. Sophie Chang

Sophie looked back at Jack and replied as they walked to her apartment block "it dosen't Jack. We'll always try and have fun but you can't tell how an adventure will turn out. So how hungry do you feel?" They still hadn't touched the drinks they'd put in her backpack so that would cover dinner. She had chicken chow mein in mind and he also had to choose his side dish. "Also do you want french fries, rice or noodles with your chow mein?" she posed. Fries or noodles might speed the process up a bit but the actual wok cooking wouldn't take long. Jack P. J.

"True," he said as he took a second. "I feel very hungry honestly," he said as he took a second. He was going to do his best to enjoy the good things even if it seemed like it was hard at times this was what having a very positive outlook on life looked and felt like and he did like it. "Noodles will work," he said. "You are always so preapred. I need to get better at that hopefully I will in time." Sophie Chang

Sophie kept things in little plastic boxes in the fridge as she was the better cook between her and her aunt. So could whip up a few options as long as she had a wok. She also had figured out out to do Japanese Tempura cooking and being on a island meant plenty of fish. So back at the apartment Sophie showed Jack the kitchen, Drinks were put into glasses and she heated the wok before she added a little oil, the sliced vegetables, peppers then the spices she ground into the wok directly and whizzed these round with a wooden spoon letting the heat do its thing. Noodles were the thin instant variety as that was the best she could do here; it would still pass as boiling water would break these down and cook them once she'd broken them up more; she used a large glass jug for the process. "Jack could you please cut the chicken fillet into thin strips for me? There's a cooks knife in the drawer" she asked adding "this is easy to cook; you just need the preparation in place otherwise it takes a lot longer". He could learn a lot from just watching her cook. She even had the broth made up and ready to add to the final result. Jack P. J.

Being a twin Jack always had a sibling type of connection with his sister but when it came to the real world him and Janelle were different which he thought was good for them because it allowed them to keep their individuality so as he made his way to the apartment with Sophie he felt that they were doing well for themselves being at such a young age. "Yep right on it," he said as he took a few minutes to wash his hands and find an appropriate knife to get started. He was going to do it carefully though so that he did not risk and take a chance on cutting anything that was not the meat. Sophie Chang

There was a suitable chef style knife he could use and you did have to be careful with it. It was probally sharper than the knife she'd offered him before the adventure got heated. This well practiced routine looked slightly comical as she needed to stand on solid block of wood 6 inches thick, 1 foot wide and two foot long to comfortably use the worktop and stove. "Looking good Jack" she said encouragingly seeing how fine he was cutting the chicken up. Then an idea hit her. "Do you want tempura prawns as well. They're cooked in a very light batter" she asked clearly having fun here. If he did it would be a fusion dish but you couldn't go wrong with prawns as a side option. She'd even save some supplies for her aunt and cook it fresh when she got back from work. This was more than a hobby but something anybody could learn. Jack P. J.

Maybe one day he would grow up to be a chef who knew what the future held for anyone of them and he spoke. "Yes please that sounds fine," he said as he had been raised to be polite but he was also well aware that sometimes no matter how polite you were it did not do you any good but he did not feel that this was the case with sophie. "So how do you like staying here?" he asked as he finished the chicken. Sophie Chang

Sophie had moved the cooked vegetables and bean sprouts to another wok and then added the drained noodles into the still hot wok. Still stiring them around she cheerfully replied "not a problem Jack. There should be batter mix in a plastic food container in the cupboard above my head and to the right. If its there add some cold water to it until it's slightly runny. Then you can have your prawns. I do like it here. It's the sense of freedom I couldn't get in LA and while its dangerous I'm getting to improve my abilities in peace and also in combat". She was just as likely to appear to be a chef and then now fried noodles got put with the vegetables and been sprouts. Now she added the cut chicken to the now well seasoned oil. She couldn't take her eyes of the cooking given the pace it was progressing at so Jack would have to make up and deep fry the prawns. She could take her eye of the ball long enough to check the oil level in a little pot and start that heating up. Jack P. J.

"Improving abilities is always a good thing. I am going to go down and ask Ms. Ashford if a training school for us younger people can be implemented as a side of either the university or at the ari. They do not even have to call it a school but just a place where we can go two to three times a week and practice maybe certain hours of the day." He took a second to move to where he could make up the prawns. "I think that as younger children that would make us feel safer." Sophie Chang

So with batter made up and prepared prawns dipped and ready to fry things were coming together. "That sounds like a good idea. As long as it has a place I can climb ropes or have climbing walls it'll be good for me. We could also practice together but I can't cut down the power of my flame blades. You can also practice with the throwing knives I'm picking up tomorrow" she mused keeping part of her concentration on the meal she about to serve up. Hearing the oil sizzle she knew Jack had the prawns cooking. Then she got two plates down for them and served up. Soon dinner would be complete as the prawns wouldn't take that long. "I wonder if we can practice on the roof?" she added. Jack P. J.

Jack had extremely high hopes for Sophie. She seemed to always made smart decisions and he had seen that she could take care of herself so he did not worry as much honestly. Plus it was fun making food with her. "Maybe we can but if we do we should be careful." The last thing that he felt that either one of them needed was that. "Should probably eat first though so we do not pass out from the trauma we seen and the lack of food." Sophie Chang
