beside the sea side - Lynn

"That's true" Alice mused back as the calm quiet morning continued. It was still early enough for them to do other things once the other isle activities got started. If things really did work out the isle would certainly benefit from tourism. For now these girls had a beach to themselves.

"And if they tried you'd give them a sonic blast" she added.

Alice laughed and looked back to Lynn. So far duty hadn't called and she felt like she recharging right now. Who knew if she'd get the full Sunday to herself or not. Lynn probally would.

She thought she spied something bobbling round in the waves and put down her drink. Something small that caught the light so she took off to get a better look. The little bit of height helped pinpoint it so she said to Lynn "I'm taking a look" before flying out to sea.

Alice kept flying out at wave level hoping to get a better look but it was hard to figure out what she'd seen bobbing around in the heavy waves. It was still coming in slightly and then she seen what it was; a military kit bag which she recognised the shape off and which could have fallen off a helicopter or of the side of a ship.

"It's a kit bag. US issue" she called back. Usually filled with clothes and equipment but you could find surprises as she got close enough to grab the top strap and pull it into the beach after she landed. More than a message in a bottle but how much more?

"Do we look like the lost and found luggage department?" Alice sighed as she carefully poked the bag to check it was what it appeared to be. "Somebody back on a ship is going to get a chewing out over this" she added and noticed a name stenciled on the side of the long canvas type bag in white paint.

"Sgt Browne, US marines" she mused. The poor sucker male or female who'd be in hot water over this shortly.

"I just need to call this in" she added heading back to the jeep to get her personal radio set. It stayed in the jeep all the time as it was standard equipment and she had a conversation with HQ. She was allowed to take a look as long as she documented what she was doing until help arrived. She didn't really want to have to bother her partner either as this was his day off too. HQ would let the OSE rep know too.

So much for duty not calling as she sighed after she signed off on her radio call. "I think you may be right but I'm not going to open this up. I know what's usually in a bag like this and nobody puts weapons in them except for their bayonet. They're used for a uniform, boots and personal items. Also a mess kit" she replied looking back at Lynn.

"So unless Sergeant Browne whoever they are can walk on water they're not going to be running anywhere. It can be stored back at HQ until it's claimed. Anyway its soaked through" she added. So getting out her phone she took some pictures of it resting on her beach towel. She paid special attention to the name on the bag and it would be the start of another case. A simple one as she opened a note page on her iphone to type in the details of the find. The location being Maiden's point, the time and the date and what was found. Along with duplicating the name on the bag. She also recorded contacting HQ.

"You can get back to sunbathing until somebody else turns up. I can deal with topless people. There was enough guys like that in my life and that was them playing volleyball" she chuckled.

A while later somebody did arrive and it wasn't a security services person. It was somebody she knew having had a really weird night together. "Oh hello Ace. I didn't think they'd disturb you but its easier to deal with than last time".

She was more professionally dressed last time as she was off duty when duty found her.
