beside the sea side - Lynn

With hands over her ears briefly Alice had to depend on what she'd seen and observed. The sonic wave had passed through the water behaving differently this time. The water was pushed to either side leaving a channel that was already being filled up by the sea.

"I seen what happened. It got pushed to either side leaving a furrow in the surface of the sea briefly. Then once you stopped it fell into itself and flattened out again. It went as far as I could see" she replied giving as much information as she could. Given the mess it made of the sand anything in the way of the water borne version would be given a hard time at least.

Alice had joined Lynn in the water by now and listened to what she'd missed. This was going to be an interesting experiment right here and now.

"I suppose that's the next thing to try I suppose" she posed back to Lynn now they had the chance to try it out.

Alice was bobbing on top of the water and felt some of the effect below her. That felt like a wave hitting her and shifting her sideways. Beyond that she couldn't see much more than a choppy trail on the surface water.

So she swam under the water to check Lynn was alright first of all. So far they hadn't annoyed any OSE submariners who might feel a bit paranoid having to operate round here.

Seeing Lynn was heading to the surface and all right Alice followed her up. "I know what I felt and that was part of the power like a wave hitting me and pushing me sideways. As to what I seen it looked like a torpedo trail; even although you shouted below the water" she replied not sure what she could add.

Alice looked back not sure what to think when Lynn explained what had happened underwater. The military part of her was thinking it would be a power that would defend their people. Then the part that was her friend just wanted to wrap her arms round her. Lynn's power was rare or possibly unique and it was just as well they were trying it here with just the two of them. A more qualified person could help Lynn when she learned more and how to control it.

Then she swam over to give her that physical support. A kiss on her cheek as a hug would have put her underwater again.

"I wouldn't want to face it either and those people out there would try and use your ability. You're better off being here and having a chance to figure all this out" she added softly. "Do you want a tow back to shore?"

So Alice towed Lynn back to shore in the same manner they'd gone into the sea proper. "It's the Ashford Research Institute. I go there occasionally so I can help add to the knowledge base about oddities. There's people who can change their bodies so they have wings in the short term but I have mine all the time. So that will help others who can fly" she replied once she was handing Lynn a soda.

By now they were lying back on beach towels soaking up some of the Sunday morning rays. Now was the time to relax.

While she had been poked at while confined in her life without freedom Alice didn't mind doing this for ARI. She was doing this for her own kind and not for a government or shadowy agency. It might also help advance other ideas they were working on since understanding the mechanics of an action was as important as the technology itself.

So as Lynn soaked up the rays Alice got her own drink and just relaxed which she sat up on the sand. Something she didn't get much time to do given her job while combining her studies. She could just close her eyes and imagine what people like her could have done in the past without normal humans knowing about them. She was too well relaxed and her wings did have a mind of their own when that happened. They fluttered happily without her taking off. She still stayed semi-watchful all the same even without seeing anybody else in their way in. Life wasn't all about work or learning.
