Madison listened carefully nodding in the right places as Dana told her story. Everybodies lightbulb moment of realisation was different but Dana found out later than she had. There was no right or wrong way to find out. When Dana reached for her hand Madison slipped her own over it in support. She was now part of a worldwide sisterhood after all and it had also crossed into two species since the start of recorded history; human and oddity alike. Seeing Dana wipe the happy tear from her eye she then gave her a hug. "Sometimes it not an easy journey but you'll have support all the way from me. I'm also glad that Kelsey dumped his worthless ass and you're still good friends. I'll give you an example. I was still 13 at this point and told my parents and big brother. Taylor was the most accepting but mum and dad had trouble. So as practising catholics they called the priest in; you'd think it was something like the exorist to see them but it wasn't that dramatic in the end. I got the sermon having to listen to it but it confirmed that I didn't want to be part of that group anymore. So told him straight I wasn't ill or mad and I haven't stepped into a church since then. I'm human but being a lesbian is almost like being an oddity. We have the same people who fear and hate us for starters; people forget gays and lesbians also suffered and perished at the hands of the Nazi's but we remember. It continued up to recent living memory too in the states and still happens in other countries. So know it might happen again. In High School I was known as a lesbian but asking questions about oddities was what made my life difficult. Getting called 'Madi the lezzie' was the easy thing to deal with as when you think differently from other people you not only become unpopular but also a target for haters. Not that it stopped me". Madison paused to let what she said be heard and after a drink continued. "There is a happy ending as my parents now fully accept what I am. What about your folks?" "I haven't told either yet; Mom I can't tell because she passed away right after I was born. Dad, on the other hand...and before you say anything, he's not a bigot; he won't have anything to do with those people. His concerns with people are 'can you do the job I've hired you to do?' "If you can, welcome aboard. He expects nothing but the best and won't stand anything less. On the other hand, if you can't then it wouldn't matter. He's been that away all his life and for as long as I've known him; he can seem cold and aloof to outsiders but once he accepts you for who you are, he'll fight like hell for you. "But to answer your question....no, I haven't told him yet; I just haven't found the right time to tell him." Madison Quinzell

Now things looked serious with a capital S. No mom; just dad and he sounded quite strict.Madison gave a caring look back and spoke softly. "I'm sorry to hear about your mom. You dad sounds strict but quite fair in fact. My dad wouldn't take any messing around from employees either. He's in real estate. Dana, you will find the right time to tell him and I'm sure of that". "Dana, you will find the right time to tell him and I'm sure of that"."Thanks," Dana replied, holding onto Madison's hand; it was the first time she'd ever come out to someone about her sexuality and a wave of relief washed over her, a peace she hadn't felt in a long time. Then she remember the sobriquet Madison said students had given her. "Madi the Lezzie?" she quipped. "You're not mad, Madison; you're just....you're just yourself," giving her hand a firm yet comforting squeeze. Madison Quinzell

It had hurt Madison slightly telling her story so she appreciated Dana's touch. "I knew I wasn't. Girls have been into other girls even before recorded history started; but that is the kind of thing you might have to deal with too. I left those bitches and idiots behind long ago" she replied. "Thanks Dana. Just sometimes it still hurts a little" she added. It was a reminder to her that battles still needed to be fought on behalf of others as well as fighting your own corner. Madison still had her drink to finish and Dana asked another question after her encouragement. A smile back to the tall woman showed she appreciated the words and the gesture. "There is another part of this club; the piece that makes this a normal bar and hangout during the day. It's also where you can chill out if the night gets too much for you or if you find somebody you like" Madison confirmed. So making sure she had her strappy handbag still on her and taking her drink she suggested "there's a pool room. Usually its where couple's end up but its still worth seeing". So Madison finished her drink and they got all new ones before Madison led the way. You left the dance floor and headed behind the DJ to reach the pool room. It was large enough to give space for four tables and enough room to move round them. They also had some company as two guys were also just chilling out here but playing pool wasn't on their mind. "There's a couple of forms of pool. Eight ball and Nine ball are the most common and you try and pot the balls in number order. It's harder than it looks and if you pot a ball of the break you continue until you don't pot a ball in sequence. So the game can get quite tactical. if you foul or pot the cue ball you can place the cue ball anywhere you want and play from there". Madison explained. This was a change of pace so with fresh drinks and a bit of time to chill out Dana would certainly learn something new. Handing Dana a cue she set up the first rack of nine ball. Following Madison into the club's pool room, Dana whistled at the room's setup - four pool tables with enough pool cues to go with them. She'd never played pool before, so this - like her coming out - was a new experience for her. Listening to Madison explain the rules, Dana nodded... Handing Dana a cue she set up the first rack of nine ball. Then invited Dana to break off."Alright," Dana said, taking a few moments to get used to the heft and feel of the pool cue. "You could almost use this as a weapon, Maddie," she quipped, setting her stance and taking the first strike. A good strike, but none of the balls were potted; one hung just on the edge. Looking upward, she let out a humorous sigh and said, "That was close...your turn." Madison Quinzell |

Madison chuckled hearing what Dana had to say about the cue. Her smile was also because she was using the familiar form of her name in the way it was meant; not the way it was used in high school. "My brother always says I'd be better of with a baseball bat than a tennis racquet" she replied and then looked over the lie of the table. The 1 ball looked like an easy bank shot and that led to a simple roll in on the 2 ball. After that things looked complicated as there looked no clear shots on the 3 and 4 balls. Madison wasn't that good at pool and there was a little rust to deal with too. The double might have looked impressive as she stunned the cue ball to hold position but this next shot was tougher. Just rolling it it would end the break. She hit it harder with backspin so it would bounce of the top cushion and roll further down the table. She got the position right in the end but the 2 ball missed the pocket and bounced into mid table. She shrugged her shoulders and mused "over to you Dana". Dana Winchester |

"over to you Dana"."Alright," Dana replied, taking stock of the score. 2-0 to Madison, stripes for me, she thought as she judged where to go next. As the next song came up over the speakers inside the pool room, she set up for the shot. 10 in the side pocket, she thought, striking the cue ball and dropping the 10. Quietly humming the music playing, she moved to the next shot and dropped it as well. The third shot she missed, though, her aim twitching just ever so imperceptibly but enough to miss the shot. "I had that shot," Dana said, a wry ruesome look on her face. "Your turn; by the way, I love that song," she added, pointing to her ear then at the speakers. Madison Quinzell

Dana had found the simplest way of playing pool; in this case spots and stripes so no complication needed. That did change what they'd be doing but there would be no problems. As the pool room had its own speakers and music selection Dana found a song she liked too. "That's also another play to play pool. If you're doing it that way the first person to sink the black ball after potting all theirs wins which is simpler. So that makes me spots and you stripes" she cheerfully replied and looked the table over again. "It's good. Whose the group?" she posed as she rolled in a long pot and then found herself with another bank shot to the right middle. She'd need to break up a cluster of balls as well for her to have a pot next shot as she played the cue ball of the cushion. She got the pot but missed where she was aiming the final location of the cue ball. "Nuts" she muttered and then had to play safe. So Dana would find herself in a spot of bother behind two spot balls. Dana Winchester |

Whose the group?""The song's "Queer" by the rock group Garbage; great, great song," Dana said as she watched Madison knocked down another ball and then play it safe - at least it looked that way to her - leaving her, at best, a difficult shot. "Let's see," Dana whispered, taking it safe by aiming for a small grouping of balls, knocking them aside. "Your shot," she said to Madison, waiting to see what happened next. Madison Quinzell

The balls that had been disturbed left a difficult cut which Madison had no hestitation on taking on. Her joy of seeing it drop led to a quite quick change of fortunes as the cue ball deflected of two other balls and she seen it sailing into the middle pocket. "That's what called a scratch" she mused then explained what happened next. "You'll probally clean up from here" she added as she gave Dana the cue ball to place anywhere she wanted. To the way Madison was seeing this Dana was a fast learner. "I'll also look them up on you tube" she added. Tonight was also an education for her. Dana Winchester |
