David looked back at Mallory now that Sparky had calmed down again and had wandered of to explore now he was fed. So David talked while he cleaned up behind him in the kitchen. A good cook did that and didn't leave the washing up for the host. He'd also freeze what was left of the potato and carrots for later on. "Small changes are good as well. So what animal do you have in mind?" he posed as he was also working out the layout of Mallory's kitchen in his mind. Time you could spend with a pet was an important factor but eventually one could get used to you being away at work. "The big changes will also come in time as its a team effort" he mused. He was one of those people who had the means to make discoveries but one persons work could lead to anothers succeeding. Mallory Nottingham |

"Well I figure if Sparky and you will be company here and there then I should at the very least try a puppy. I also feel like it might be an easier animal for me to adjust to having and I think I would get along better with it." She also thought they were a tad cuter. David could picture her as a dog person seeing Mallory with Sparky. So replied "A puppy does sound like a plan but also keep in mind rescue dogs. That's if such a place exists on the isle". He didn't know if that was the case but puppies were usually available anywhere. He had now finished washing his few dishes and had put them away in their proper place. "I think that I would like a rescue dog. Or I mean I think that I would like to try a rescue dog first. I know that you can go to a pet store and get an animal but if I can give a pet a second chance who otherwise might not have the chance to get one, I feel like that would make me feel a whole lot better." Looking back David knew rescue dogs. Sparky was one and he'd turned out quite well once they paired off. You'd never know that now given the dogs bright nature. "Sparky was a rescue dog. So if there's a dog shelter on the island I could help you find one. I know what to look for" he suggested in a friendly manner. Idealy you needed to find a dog who had previous house training for starters. A loving owner could fix some emotional damage over time but the size of the canine did matter along with its habits. "So what kind and size of dog do you have in mind?" he posed. "Dog people are usually good" he added though Adolf Hitler loved dogs too. There was always that rare exception after all. A beagle. Quite a challenge as Mallory had admitted but perhaps she'd given this some prior thought. "You've given this some thought already Mallory" David admitted. "I've known that breed and they'd be a good match for you. However if you leave them alone too long they might get into trouble and they are very energetic, intelligent and happy. They would need the same length of walk as Sparky does" he further advised but since she had a plan already little should go wrong. Now was there Beagles on this isle? "You've also made your mind up so go all out" he added in a supportive manner. Just then Sparky was back again as if he had known they were talking about his kind. David kneeled down to pet Sparky once he returned from his wander. He was figuring out his surroundings too as his master looked back at Mallory. It also sounded like she was ready to take on more challenges. He posed a question that hopefully Mallory would have an answer to. "Is there an animal shelter on the isle? I can help if there is". "I'm not sure, I think I should be able to do a quick search on my phone to find out. I do know that we have tons of shops but considering how good a shelter would be for publicity I do not see why they would not have one but I mean I am not the Ashfords so I do not really know how they would operate." "Yeah whatever day works for you, just let me know. I think we could all do with a little rest for now though," she said. "You can come up and sleep in my bed whenever you are done with your food.
