"JD's it is" David mused and then posed the next obvious question. The venue for this drinking session for which Mallory was certainly up for and David needed to unwind further anyway. Sparky would be happy finding a corner to have a nap in after all this walking and he did have short legs. "Mallory is it going to be your place or mine?" he posed and he'd need her to guide him to the nearest liquor store as well. "My apartment is probably closer and I think just about every store here sells alcohol so we can see if we can find them, though if we do not find what we want I can just see if either of my cousins has anything that we would like." So it would be her place and it wasn't far. Sparky was looking tired anyway as he looked up at Mallory. He was getting used to her just as David was. <fast forward slightly> Enter stage left. Mallory's apartment; David hoped there'd be one in his future too but there was a waiting list and he had his hotel room in the meantime. It was not like she did not know or understand how to host company but the truth was she had not had anyone actually over to her own apartment since arriving on the island just around about four maybe five months ago. Time seemed to fly on the island so she just assumed that it was time as it were everywhere else and if it was not then that was something that she did not know. Still she did feel like her and David had a true, like first friend spark kind of thing. Maybe just a good vent session between two people who needed it from time to time and enjoyed drinks of both non and alcoholic varities. So he came on in as Mallory invited him in. He hadn't a mental image of what an artists apartment looked like but this seemed to fit. There seemed to the right level of organisation and chaos in the first areas he could see. He also knew from building tradition bedrooms and bathrooms tended to be walled off and separate rooms just like in the UK. "I'd like an apartment some day but smaller" he replied after his look around. "I had a canal side apartment that was built out of old industrial warehouses but that was before the OSE found me" he mused looking at Mallory. Then came another question. "Where do you want me to leave this bag?" he added and he did wonder which spot they'd get comfortable in before they started to drink. It was feeling warmer already and Sparky was taking the chance to explore as well. He was a good boy and would soon find a quiet corner to have a nap in after a busy evening. His master was trying not to mess this up; he wasn't in a girls apartment very often and his mind was trying to give him ideas he didn't normally have. Mallory Nottingham |

Perhaps Mallory noticed something as she tried to put him at ease. So he sat down as she directed and answered her question. "I think a comedy will work" he replied once he felt comfortable. Mallory was different but he was getting used to her. So he'd no need to be nervous after all while Mallory arranged the drinks. She was honestly so out of practice with having someone over but since David had been nice to her she was going to be nice to him and make sure he was comfortable. She poured them both a small glass of drink and made her way over. "Here you go," she said. "You seem nervous when truthfully all that you need to do is relax. That's the beauty of drinks and movies. People might find themselves all hands in a way but no real need to. Take a sip and see if it helps or if you will end up needing a drink with a stronger kick." David Lightfeather |

David could deal with this in a bar or a club but this was a different situation. She offered him a drink that he sampled and nodded. Yes this was a good start. He didn't realise Mallory was out of practise too as she also had a matching drink. "I was never good at this kind of thing" he confessed to Mallory. It hadn't stopped the occasional one night stand but he wanted more than that with Mallory. She was nice and he sensed kindness from her. She could be his first true friend here. "However I will relax for you" he added and made space for her to sit down. Sparky having explored for a while came back to them and made his choice to lie beside Mallory. He was still curious about her too. Looking down at his dog he'd something to add. "So I'm no longer chief food bringer?" he posed with a chuckle. That dog really had a mind of his own. She always found that people were crazy, not in the sense of insane but more so in the sense of they seemed to show a little of whom they truly were when the world was not paying attention or when the setting got a litte more private but David still seemed like a good person and so she liked that. She thought that for the most part she was always herself too which sometimes she also knew was not a good thing. "You mean dating?" She scrunched up her nose a second. "Or just one one one with a person. I think that is because sometimes the world and movies like that make you believe that one thing should happen when what we should just focus on is a good time had by all," she said. She took a second to acknowledge Sparky with a rub and spoke. "What can I say, Sparky likes me, probably the aurora or something but no worries I am sure it's just because I am new." David looked back at Mallory and quietly replied "Yeah dating was the problem. Other situations didn't cause problems. So I can deal with one on ones. As well as good times and its not a crime to want more of them". The short time he'd been here had given him that bit more confidence as he sipped his drink again. He wasn't really taking in details from the film as Mallory had all of his attention. He truely wanted to give her those good times too. "He's always been like that with new people but I might lose him to you if this keeps up. If he does that I'll leave his stuff over tomorrow" David joked and chuckled back. "Mallory, I want to give you good times and it dosen't have to work the way the world expects things to pan out. Perhaps there were moments where she was too chill but David was, well much like Sparky but you know in a human form. Comforting, nice, just different and that different was not bad at all. She looked at him when he spoke and nodded. "You're such a chill vibe for a guy," she said. It was unique and she was not the type to give into the social norms anyway. "Sparky can come over any time he wants, I don't mind the company. I mean you can come too, my house is a bit of an open house in a way." What he said next was a little, well warm. "A good time? We will need nachos for that," she said as she joked and spoke. "Nah I get it and no worries I never expect anything from anyone. Human emotion is so complicated I am just here for the ride. The film continued as did the discoveries he was making about Mallory. Sparky was welcome anytime he walked over and she'd take them as a team. The alcohol was relaxing David further and he did have something else to say. It felt safe to say this as this wasn't anything close to a date. Just two people chilling out over drinks. "I've never met anybody quite like you either Mallory" he quietly said and added "I think we might have to share Sparky at this rate" with a little chuckle. She made him feel different too and she brought out something in him. He found the anger being pushed further back and he had plenty to be angry about. They way the rest of the world treated his kind and his own country following that path of hate. His path now lay here and Mallory would be part of that. "How do you like to feel good?" he posed. "It all depends," she said. "A lot of times it's just by getting to know people but I mean eventually everyone has needs. I do not know if we are there quite yet but just being here with you and having this talk and about to watch something feels comfortable." She did not know if that was a good choice of words but she meant it in a good way. "I mean warm is always good right and I think we both feel nice enough now that we do not have to worry or stress about anything at all, so we can both relax thankfully.
