AND SHE'S OFF - Xander

Alice listened carefully as Xander's advice continued. Her shortcut might well be fun but it was also dangerous; she'd need to be careful. It was essential things she'd never had a chance to do and she'd take the chance so she learn how to be a functional member of society.

She nodded back replying "I will be careful. There probally will be risks no matter what I try and do but as long as the good things outweigh the bad it will fun".There was always risks with learning outside of books and she would take the chance.

To Alice what Xander was suggesting was a sound plan. It wouldn't be a date and they'd be going as a pair; as Alice could feel she could trust him she nodded. In a couple of hours once they were both free sounded about right. Numbers did help.

She could get her own shower here but would need a dress from her room. She mused back "I can work with that but I'd need a dress from my room. Can we go to the Arms before we go out? Once the workout is finished. I won't need long" Then she could also get ready for a new experience and get to know Xander better.

Alice truly did appreciate what Xander was going through for her. They left together after Alice adjusted her hoodie dress to make it more comfortable. This clearly wasn't going to cut it for going to a club but she did have dresses that would fit the bill. So back in her room she grabbed her quick shower, applied makeup and fixed her hair. What she picked out was a red halterneck dress with a pleated skirt that dropped to her knees. She also chose little black heels and a black jacket modified to fit her wings. This thrown together outfit would do the job.

So adding her strappy handbag she skipped down the stairs and smiled when's he seen Xander. Now they could leave and see what tonight would bring. "Ready when you are" she cheerfully said. Her first aim was to see if she could handle a club; secondly how to handle alcohol and potential creeps better.

So the night out started and it wasn't just going out. To Alice it was like a science experiment where you didn't know what chemicals you'd use and certainly not the end result. Xander was right about her wings as she'd accidentally hurt people with them. It wouldn't take much to use them to give a creep a lot of pain on purpose. "I understand that Xander" she posed and the journey through the town proper began. When night fell it came alive with neon signs and people out trying to enjoy themselves. Perhaps some wanted to forget their troubles but others were there to have fun. "There seems to be a lot of people out tonight. Is that normal? she added".

So eventually they got to three miles down. Alice observed everything while they waited to get in and when they did she looked happy. This was the start of a big adventure.

Alice could only sense what the living were getting up to while in this steadily moving line. She figured ghosts and spirits might be a scientific possibility but hadn't really researched this herself. She hadn't pushed Xander on his ability as she wasn't even sure if he was an oddity. Unlike Alice who screamed out her status to the world most oddities could pass as normal people. Around them was excitable chatter, impatience and even a couple having a lovers tiff further up the line.

Looking back at Xander as the queue kept inching forward she quietly replied as she wanted to keep this conversation between them.

"Some people don't want to say what they can do. They might have good reasons too just like I can't really talk about my job in detail with others. All I can really tell them is I'm effectively a police detective.

I figured you might have told me eventually but you also equally could have been human". Alice's logic in a nutshell given she also wouldn't push somebody who wasn't just hetrosexual out of the closet and expose them. She embraced all forms of love given she was bi-sexual herself.

Now they were in the club and she hoped the bickering couple would make up later. For now it was her and Xander and she felt warmer already. The people round them generated this as she took in the scene with a wide look. "Thats all right Xander. I believe in love being love too and knew only too well about 'don't ask don't tell'. A completely backwards way of looking at life".

That was an environment where people couldn't really come out anyway but here was completely different. Now she had her first choice to make and she knew what that was going to be. "I'd fancy trying the drinking first" she smiled back. The experiment would now begin.

Love was something that people had been thinking about for thousands of years even before they wrote about their thoughts on it. She figured it was the rise of modern organised religion that had made a simple thing much more complicated than it needed to be. She nodded when Xander gave his opinion as it sounded like love was a small boat journey down a wild water river. If all worked out you'd have somebody for years. On the other hand there were crashes, heartbreak and let downs to deal with before you got to the end. She had thoughts about a certain guy at present and that was a journey that had barely started.

"I can agree with that. Love is never going to be straightforward but when it works the journey is worth it" she mused adding "something with fruit and a bit of alcohol I think". She'd still be careful as whatever the drink it could catch you out.
