Sophie shook her head and replied “it’s not that Avery. My aunt told me some things and my mother should be able to tell me the rest”. Then considered the rest of what Avery said as she added “I know Carmen a Sawyer had a baby. Given our closeness I’m practically Nina’s big sister but I knew of it happening when I was in LA. "Well with the females it's like a swab and technology has allowed for the same to be done with the guys though with the guys I think she is going with blood samples. I don't personally care kids help this community remain as it should be but also do not want a lot of std's or sti's because that could get in the water and we do not want that in our drinking supply." Sophie listened carefully. This was a departure from what she’d known in California but every nation did things differently. It sounded more like a health procedure the way Avery was describing it. “I think I understand that reasoning. I also understand freedom of action and you have to think the possibilities through with any activity” she replied thoughtfully. Sex could lead to pregnancy and parenthood. It wasn’t a given and some babies could end up in the orphanage as well. “Is the water usually tested for diseases? Not just those ones but others” she posed. Poison in the water was a strategy as old as humanity itself. Hell her mum had even sneaked in to do it. One of her dad’s stories about how they gave a group of Italian mafia a hard time before a successful attack. One that drove them out of triad territory. Avery Ashford |

"The water is tested, filtered, retested, filtered three times and then allowed to be used as it's needed. The only water I don't really have access to test is the grotto but it's a different color, clearer sparklier than anything we would drink so it seems okay." She was hearing things straight from Avery that others may not know as well as seeing the process that others wouldn’t see. “Everywhere has unsafe things. Seeing what shade of nail polish Avery came up with Sophie could see what she meant. When she was grown more then she'd truely understand it but as the older children grew up and left the orphanage more of the duty of care would fall onto her. It was the nature of that peculiar family. "I'll always be a big sister to someone in the orphanage. Someday I might even have to fight an invader and that colour does look nice" she replied. Sophie didn't know much about that side of orphanage life but she could answer with what she did know. "We need to use our island id cards to get in the front door and you need a retinal scan to prove who you are while you're doing this. Beyond that I'm not sure" she replied. "There's also alert panels you can activate as a resident and I suppose there's security cameras in the grounds. Each door has its own keycard too.". "That sounds secure enough the last thing I want is for children to be freaked out. The panels probably do need an upgrade though since technically I had nothing to do with the actual land that the orphanage is on. The paperwork for it was a bit hard to get ahold of but who knows what was there before hand. I need to send some of my scientists down there to check it out." Sophie Chang |

Sophie shrugged her shoulders as she didn’t have the full picture of what was going on so she replied “I don’t know for sure about the cameras but as we are so well looked after we must be valued. Though I don’t know for sure about the cameras. I’d assume they’d be there”. All that effort invested in them must be for some reason. “It wouldn’t be a bad idea to get the systems checked over anyway. There’s always room for improvement”.
