snow avalanche - (event, open to all)

An emergency situation trumped everything Alice was dealing with as police officer. The last time was the Mobot raid but this time she had a more personal stake in the situation. So when the word got round she hoped that Lucas hadn't gotten home with the twins yet.

So she phoned him up and hoped the signal would hold. So much for a normal days work for her as she'd be on search and rescue duties for several hours at least.

"Lucas, darling were are you and have you collected the twins from day care yet? I won't be home for a long time?" she said once her boyfriend picked up his mobile.

Already she was already leaving the office she shared with Francis and sending him a text would be next. Then after that they'd have to check out the aftermath when this settled down.

The work day had been rather quiet so much so that at first Lucas had zoned out the world around him not because he meant to but it happened once you started day dreaming. Luckily he had just grabbed the babies. "Yeah but there seems to be a lot of snow and just around the whole island. I thought it might just be at the apartments but it's everywhere else too." Scientifically why but right now he did not have time to think about it. "Where are you exactly?"

Alice really hadn’t seen much of snow before now. She had heard of such things from military personnel in the Florida camp but she did know what might happen if this avalanche hit a building and the snow didn’t stop. You’d end up with a snow scape, building damage and she wasn’t even sure if she could drive soon never mind move on foot. So based on what she was seeing could be safe? The bigger question was why they got this much snow in the first place and was the neighbouring islands affected?

“I’m in security services head quarters right now. Before long I’ll on search and rescue duty but can you still move around on foot or vehicle where you are? I would advise contacting Sam and as many cousins as you can and make a plan. I’m not sure myself what’s safe but the mall, university, ARI and the fitness centre might be along with other large buildings. That’s the usual safe zones in an emergency” she tenderly said clearly worried for Lucas as well as her children. Yet knowing her duty to the people who lived here.

“Get the bottles and other baby things first before you can’t. I need to go but keep me informed my love” she added. She’d miss Lucas badly but she had to be strong now. At least with family round him Lucas and the little ones had a chance.

Given the day had started snowy she had worn good boots and heavier pants to work. So going out as she arrived wasn’t a problem and at least she could be seen in her red puffa coat as she’d flown outside having just finished talking to Lucas. So neatly landed beside him on a compacted area of snow.

“Yeah it is me” she replied glad to see her partner. “I might be able to see where this will land if I fly a bit higher” she added. They’d also have work to do once they figured out how the avalanche changed the landscape though she suspected while a chain link fence might be crushed the building they worked in would survive easily.

Now she added “I think once this lands we’ll have a lot of work to do. Assuming we’re still able to drive in this”. She didn’t sound too hopeful even with a 4 wheel drive jeep they could use.

Francis Dominic

He thought and then he spoke. "I think if we start driving now we might be able to beat it just by a little bit but other than that I am not sure but we have to try right?" He was not going to freak out right now because he knew that it was the last thing that either one of them needed.

Alice Seraphim

She had no idea why she had got caught up in such a storm but she had to get back to her apartment hopefully sooner rather than later.

Alice gave this matter thought. Where they started was more likely to be the places you’d find people. So the apartments for starters. The Ashford PD was likely to get to the old town and slums fairly quickly to give help and limit the amount of anarchy that could happen.

“I think we should start at the gated community. The university is closer to here but they’re spread out well. I don’t think they’ll have much in the way of snow trouble. The people in the apartments might need a bit more help” she suggested. She doubted they’d be in much danger anyway but this was about checking in on your neighbours first and foremost. If they couldn’t get out it would be a case of keeping an eye on the food and water you had.

“I’ll be careful Francis. If I see anybody out in the open before I catch you up I’ll let you know” she added and then flew off sure about the plan.
